"MISSISSAUGA — A Mississauga man disappeared 10 days ago and police and his family are concerned for his safety.

Shawn Kapadia, 21, was last seen at his residence in the Bristol and Kennedy roads area around 2 p.m. on July 5. His parents contacted police on July 10, 2015. He is described as South Asian, 6-feet tall with straight black hair. Family members don’t know what Kapadia was wearing when he went missing.

Chapati has not gone missing in the past, and his parents and police are becoming concerned for his well-being as this is out of character for him, police said."

There, a John Deer backhoe was seen entering the address and later observed leaving with a large chunk of concrete in its front bucket. Police say the tractor was last seen driving on Broadway, near Welland, Ont., on the afternoon of July 12"

Dickinson said the backhoe was seen leaving a home on O’Reilly’s Road in Wainfleet – the same residence where Kapadia’s vehicle, a silver Pontiac, was later found."

Oh my, how awful.
 
Checked my property as I live in Wainfleet. Police have been so tight-lipped for the last week its good to hear something. I am very sorry for the young man and his family.

Toronto police homicide Det. Dave Dickinson said Friday evening that the backhoe was located Thursday, but that the concrete block it is believed the vehicle was carrying was no longer in the bucket.

On Friday, Dickinson said police wanted to thank the public for their help in locating the backhoe. But police are still calling for anyone in the area to keep an eye out for signs of disturbed dirt, or freshly laid concrete on their properties.

Of particular interested to the investigation is where the backhoe travelled between Wainfleet and the undisclosed location in Niagara Falls where it was eventually found.

Dave Dickinson said Thursday when called for an update on the investigation into the disappearance of Shawn Kapadia.

I'm wondering why he felt the need to clarify that unusual things might not overlap with giant concrete blocks :p In all seriousness, though, you'd think someone would've seen something in a case like this. Everything involved - backhoes, concrete blocks - seems so out of the ordinary.

Seven months after launching a homicide investigation into the disappearance of 22-year-old Shawn Kapadia, Toronto police have no progress to report.

Last fall Toronto police asked for the community’s help locating a concrete slab in the south Niagara area. Police believe the remains of the missing Mississauga man may be encased by it.

“There’s no update at this time,” Toronto Police Const. Caroline deKloet said Monday.

“We are looking with anyone who may have information to contact the Toronto Police homicide squad,” she said.

Has anyone dine a search of the victim on fb? There's a case from 2008 that comes up with the same name. I do wonder if it's the same person.
