    Daily Mail:

Armadillos believed to be the cause of leprosy in nine Florida patients

    ◦ Nine people in Florida diagnosed with leprosy since October
    ◦ All of the cases believed to be from contact with armadillos
    ◦ Disease, more common in south, can incubate for 10 years
    ◦ The latest person to be diagnosed occurred three weeks ago

If it is a bacteria, can it not be cured with antibiotics? Once a lesion shows, it should be cultured and most, not all, bacteria show themselves in 48-72 hours. There are a few however, that can take several weeks. But you could start a good broad-spectrum antibiotic and then change it when you get results that show the best med(s) to fight it. Guess we have to gown, glove, and mask or call animal control for dead armadillos in the middle of the road! The usual shovel and plastic bag won't cut it anymore!!

It can be cured with antibiotics, but many bacterail diseases are becoming antibiotic resistance due to overuse of antibiotics.
    Just my opinion
