Hansen says search and rescue teams have found some additional bones as they combed the steep, rocky spot near Alta ski resort, but haven't found a skull or anything to identify the person yet.

The boot was a low-cut type typically worn by a man. It was found about 5 miles up the canyon..

He said the bones have been there for at least a year.

Crews went to the scene and found additional human bones in the area.

Officials said it looks like a person might have fallen, ended up under rocks in the area and then snow covered the area over time.

“They feel pretty sure that this is Corry,” Ehlers said. “They found his Costco card with his picture on it, and then they found his American Express card.”

According to Unified Police, two hikers discovered a skeletal foot inside an old boot they picked up off a trail by Alta on Tuesday. When authorities arrived at the area, near Hell Gate, they found several more bones.

Police identified the victim years after human bones were found in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Unified Police Department identified the bones as belonging to 48-year-old Corry Ehlers, a hiker who went missing in 2012. Ehlers told a friend on May 21, 2012 that he was going to go hiking in the Hellgate area. Ehlers wasn't seen since.
