"Ontario Provincial Police are treating the body of a man found in Short Hills Provincial Park Thursday as a suspicious death.
A small army of police officers shut down the central Niagara park popular with hikers after the body was discovered there Thursday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police spokesman Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said police were notified just past 9 a.m. that a deceased male had been found.
Speaking from a Roland Rd. command post, he could not provide any information on the believed age of the person.
"It's too early on to speculate any cause (of death) or identity," Schmidt said. However in a later news release the OPP said it is treating the death as suspicious. Post mortem is scheduled for Friday at Hamilton Health Sciences Centre.
One source said the body is that of a male in his 50s".
