Police in La Place de la Concorde, Paris, have opened fire at a car that tried to ram through barricades erected for the arrival of the Tour de France cycling competitors, Sunday. The male suspect and passenger drove off and have not been located.
Despite the US embassy in Paris appearing to go on alert, police later classed it as a minor incident, saying it was simply a driver who refused to comply after an accident and was trying to flee police. It's not certain if the suspect was wounded.
