Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

So scary. My hometown but I am in Sacramento for a class tomorrow but I hope to help when I get home. River Street is scetchy. I am a nurse and work with a local clinic for low income people so I am very compassionate but not naive. Lots of homeless people and transients on River Street because that is where the big homeless shelter is located.

Their FB says she was last seen at her apartment complex, and it looks like there are apartments right behind the art center.

It certainly took a really long time to get the word out. Twitter says it was posted about 2 hours ago, which would be 9 PM PST, and she went missing at 4 PM.

This is a low income complex according to google, with many RSOs within a mile. :-/

1030 River Street is literally right next to the river, which runs out to the bay.

Actually the apartments are rent controlled for local artists, musicians, actors etc. The art center is part of it. The area is also industrial with the big shelter for people right down the street. However the art community there is very nice. The shelter is well staffed and does much needed community work and outreach. Rents are crazy high and this makes for many displaced people here and very little affordable housing.

Any locals here? I'm trying to find news on this child but there's nothing much else out there!

God please let this one be found safe...and SOON.

The circumstances of the case make me think stranger abduction, but the lack of urgency (5 hours to share it with the public, presumbly waiting until tomorrow to release basic facts of the case) seems to indicate that LE is looking in a different direction.
