Police in the Philippines have offered a reward for the location of two suspects after the brutal murder of 23-year-old Karie Ces Mojica in Subic, Zambales. The body of Karie, known as 'Aika' was found partly burnt in a dike, with three gunshot wounds to her head. Jonathan Dewayne Viane of Anchorage, Alaska has been named a suspect in the case but authorities say he fled the country Saturday, on an EVA-Air flight, bound for Alaska.

Police say Viane's girlfriend in the Philippines has provided information that led to the issuing of a warrant for his arrest. She told them the victim was the best friend of Viane's ex-wife who resides in the US and had been talking to her about his 'illicit' activities in the Philippines.

Murder charges have been filed against both Viane and Nino dela Cruz, of Subic, Philippines and Olangapo City Government has offered a P50,000 (about $10,000) reward for information leading to the arrest of either of the suspects.

*I'm very concerned about this case. There is no coverage that I can find in US media at all, and it seems disturbing that someone with an arrest warrant for the murder of a young woman can just return to Anchorage and go about his business without those citizens (and maybe the ex-wife supposedly with info on allegedly illicit activities) knowing a thing about it. I did try but media there don't seem interested at all. :(

Previous articles I linked said there was no sign of rape. This latest article says poor Karie Ces Mojica was raped, choked, shot and burned before her body was dumped in a ditch.

Meanwhile, the suspect was somehow able to jump back on a plane to the US, where I guess he could be anywhere now. He was able to do that because he had booked the flight in advance. His 17-year-old girlfriend is an eyewitness, who saw the victim getting in a car with the suspects. The car was later recovered, with bloodstains inside.

ETA: Sorry, that's an old link. Here's the new one. Warning: Video at link is blurred but does show crime scene shots and the victim is not clothed. http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/regions/07/28/15/rape-slay-suspect-flees-ph

If, as alleged, Karie was murdered simply because she gave information to Viane's ex wife on his allegedly illicit activities in the Philippines....then I have serious concerns for the safety of that ex-wife too.

I hope she doesn't live in Alaska where the suspect is believed to be now. She is in the US somewhere.

Karie is going to be cremated. I just hope the autopsy was thorough, and plenty of samples have been kept. It seems a very short space of time for a thorough autopsy to have been carried out?

It's not me, I promise you. When I originally posted the new article it stated the victim had been raped and I noticed it particularly because all the other articles stated she had NOT been. Only now, as I look for an update, I see all mention of rape has gone, without any correction acknowledged at the top!

I really hope the autopsy included testing for rape though. The victim was found naked. I know that could just be an attempt to remove evidence, but I hope tests were carried out. I wonder if there was a comprehensive search for the victim's clothing? The young female witness would have noticed what the victim was wearing, I'm sure.

Justice Secretary Leila De Lima on Monday said the Department of Justice (DOJ) will ask the United States (US) for the extradition of a Filipino-American suspect in killing a woman in Subic, Zambales last July...

De Lima said the Philippines requested for Viane’s “provisional arrest” last August 20 after he was traced in Iowa, US. On September 4, the US authorities arrested Viane...
