'Something Wrong': Family of Missing Middletown Woman Makes Plea for Help
The family of a 57-year-old Middletown woman who has been missing more than two weeks is pleading for help to bring her home.

Nina Coe's sisters joined Middletown police for a news conference Friday night, choking back tears at the podium as they described the events leading up to Coe's disappearance, and the radio silence they've been met with ever since.

Coe, who is usually in constant contact with family members, last spoke with her sisters Wednesday, July 15. She attended a dentist appointment the following afternoon and has not been seen or heard from since.

"It's unusual for her to do that because she calls me every single day," said Coe's sister, Dale Ocelik.

Coe stands 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. Police said she wears glasses and has a tattoo on one leg and a scar on the right side of her neck.

This woman has a whole laundry list of problems. She's a bipolar alcoholic that is dependent on pain meds.

The sky is the limit on what happened to her, either voluntary or involuntary.

Boyfriend of missing Middletown woman held on $250k bond for violating restraining order

"MIDDLETOWN–The boyfriend of a missing woman was in court on Thursday after police say he violated a restraining order.

Nina Coe went missing on or around July 15.

According to court paperwork, Gregory Erhardt, 55, of Middletown, and Coe had been dating in the months before her disappearance.

She filed a restraining order against him on June 16, about a month before she disappeared. In the restraining order application, Coe called Erhardt hurtful, physical, and said he told her to lock the door so no one kills her."

Gregory Erhardt, 55, was arraigned Thursday in Middletown court on new charges stemming from the July 16 disappearance of Nina Coe.

He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail after allegedly violating a protective order filed by Coe. On Thursday, charges of second-degree assault, a felony, and first-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor, were added to the case against him... The new charges stem from an incident in which he allegedly attacked Coe — who he reportedly was dating — with scissors before she went missing...

Despite numerous searches in wooded areas and bodies of water using canines, divers and video drones, officers have been unable to find Coe, according to the warrant.

Nina has been missing for a year now.

A Middletown family is begging for help one year after the disappearance of their loved one.

Nina Coe was last seen July 16, 2015, in the middle of the afternoon when she returned from an appointment.

A year later, family friends and police are still searching for the now 57-year-old.

Middletown Police issued a Silver Alert for Coe.

At a candlelight vigil, Saturday, her siblings spoke about the devastation they have experienced in the last year.

“This is a continued thing day in and day out for one full year that we have to deal with this, we need closure,” her brother, Michael Plourde, said.

It’s said that time heals all wounds. That’s not true.

It’s what you do with the time that ultimately begins the healing process.

Michael Plourde knows this all too well.

“Hey, we`re suffering mentally and emotionally day in and day out. We just can`t continue that. Sooner or later one of us is going to break and lose it,” says Plourde.

He’s been looking for his sister Nina Coe for three years. She went missing on July 16th, 2015. Police say Coe’s disappearance may have been met with foul play but up until now, no arrests have been made.

Although it has been four years since his sister’s mysterious disappearance, time has not eased the pain Michael Plourde carries every day.

She suffers from alcohol and pain medication dependency and has mental health issues, her family has said. Six months before her disappearance, Coe had gone into remission from the metastatic cancer Plourde said traveled to her lungs, thyroid and glands.

“We’ve all hit a brick wall and we can’t go through it. When is this going to stop?” asked Plourde, who still periodically checks in with detectives assigned to his sister’s cold case.

Plourde created a new poster that he will distribute at a candlelight vigil at 5 p.m. Sunday on the city’s South Green at the intersection of Main and Union streets downtown.

Coe remains listed as a missing person, according to Middletown Police Lt. Heather Desmond. “We have been in touch with the family of Nina Coe, but as of late, we have not had any new leads.

“We are eager to receive any new leads from (the) public, no matter how small. We will investigate all leads to the fullest extent possible,” she said.

Plourde and his family speak with detectives periodically, hoping for any news on Coe.

On July 29, 2015, authorities obtained permission from Coe’s daughter to search her mother’s home, and found blood on a mattress and collected a toothbrush, according to court documents.

Just days before her disappearance, Coe filed for a restraining order against Gregory Erhardt, the man she said she was romantically involved with, according to a court affidavit. Police said Coe’s restraining order against Erhardt was not set to expire until summer 2016.

Erhardt was convicted in March 2016 for violation of the restraining order Coe held against him. He was sentenced to 18 months in jail, suspended after seven months, followed by two years probation. He is not charged in her disappearance.

The state has offered a $20,000 for details leading to the arrest and conviction of an individual who may be responsible for a crime committed against Coe. Anyone with information is asked to call Middletown police at 860-638-4000.

Details of Disappearance
Coe was last seen returning to her Middletown, Connecticut residence after a dentist's appointment at 2:00 p.m. on July 16, 2015. Her phone records indicate the phone was in use and she was home until about 8:00 p.m. She has never been heard from again. When authorities searched her home on July 29, investigators found blood on a mattress.

In June, the month her disappearance, Coe had gotten a restraining order against Gregory Erhardt, a man she'd been dating. She applied for the order on June 16 and it was granted on June 29, and was set to expire in the summer of 2016. Coe stated she was afraid of Erhardt and that he had threatened to kill her in her sleep.

A photo of him is posted with this case summary. He has a criminal record dating back to the 1980s, including felony convictions for assault and unlawful restraint. In August 2015, Erhardt was arrested for violating the order. He admitted he'd contacted Coe prior to her disappearance and had met with in a supermarket the week she went missing.

In October, additional charges were filed against him for felony assault and misdemeanor reckless endangerment. These charges stem from an incident with Coe on June 26, three weeks before her disappearance. According to court documents, Erhardt stabbed her in the neck with scissors. She didn't seek medical attention right away, but did go to a walk-in clinic with her daughter and son-in-law for treatment after they saw the injury. The blood police found on Coe's mattress was apparently from the June 26 attack.

Due to her health issues, Coe is considered to be at risk. Authorities haven't stated whether Erhardt is a suspect in her disappearance, but foul play is suspected in her case, as it's uncharacteristic of her to leave without warning.
