Eugene Pierce was a freshman at North Carolina A&T State University and he worked as a clerk at the Circle K convenience store. He was almost done with his semester and was planning to head back to New Jersey for winter break. While on his shift, he was the victim of a deadly robbery. The other individual in the store survived and gave detectives information. Almost 26 years later, the case remains unsolved but newly discovered DNA evidence could identify the person responsible.

On December 8, 1989 at 2:30 p.m. the body of Eugene W. Pierce, a North Carolina A&T student, was discovered behind the counter area of the Circle K convenience store, 2303 North Church Street. Mr. Pierce died as a result of a gunshot wound during a robbery of the business. Also wounded in the incident was a customer. There is a Governors reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this offense.
