France - Eva Bourseau, 23, found dissolving in acid bath, Toulouse, 26 July 2015

    The Independent:

French students dissolve body in acid after killing girl in 'Breaking Bad' murder plot

The body of a 23-year-old French art history student has been found decomposing in acid at her Toulouse apartment in what prosecutors have said was part of a murder plot inspired by the US TV series Breaking Bad.

Three French students have been charged with murdering Eva Bourseau who was reportedly killed over a 4,250 drugs debt, according to reports.

The dismembered body was found on Monday in a plastic container inside her Toulouse flat.

Her legs had reportedly been cut off in order to fit her body inside the container.

The woman's body was in the "advanced stages of decomposition", a police source told the AFP news agency at the time, adding that it had likely been there for around ten days.

It is 7:41 am, on this morning of Monday, July 27, 2015. Taha Mrani Alaoui (21 years old) and Zakariya Banouni (18 years old) leave Eva Bourseau (23 years old). The girl lives in a studio, on the third floor of an old building with a gray-white plaster facade, 38 rue Merly, in the center of Toulouse, a stone's throw from the Saint-Sernin basilica. They have just killed her: for a few hundred euros of debt, ten grams of MDMA (methamphetamine) and a hundred ecstasy tablets. The three young people spent a sleepless night during which they ate drugs - ecstasy and atropine - while watching a documentary on television...

Eva's corpse lies on the floor of the studio, wrapped in a blanket. Zakariya broke his jaw with the help of an American punch and Taha broke his head with a crowbar...

Judge Florence Bru issued an indictment in late September for "theft preceded, accompanied or followed by murder". A crime punishable by life imprisonment. The prosecution appealed, and said Thursday before the investigating chamber that the murder had preceded the theft and that both offenses should be referred to the criminal court. Regarding the penalty, it does not change anything. "The motive, the intention that motivates the two men, is theft. After all, slipped. My client does not dispute this, "says Pierre Alfort, who with Me Martial defends Taha, 24 years old at the end of the month. This rather brilliant student, who dreamed of Polytechnic, finally admitted that he was responsible for deadly blows, carried by a crowbar...

This involves a trial before the Assizes no later than December 2018. By then, the two accused will also cross in the Criminal Court, this time with "the Chinese", a friend dealer. At first they accused him of having ordered the murder of Eva. A lie quickly ignored by the instruction. On the other hand, all of them sold a lot of drugs and will have to explain it to justice.
