    British Tate Gallery needs sleuthers

The Tate Gallery in London, England, is appealing for people with any knowledge of British landscapes or buildings - or just good photographic sleuthing skills - to help. Artist John Piper took thousands of photos throughout the UK from the 1930s to the 1980s. Many of the buildings and even places have completely disappeared now, so the photos can't be identified.

The website can be searched by county, so if you like looking at old photos and think you may be able to identify the location of any of the hundreds of unidentified towns or buildings, give it a try!

Most people replying to the photo of the building tweeted in my previous post seem certain it's in Scotland. I think it could be in Cornwall though? Definitely a mill or grain store, wherever it was, I'd say.

someone on that website said its this castle:

    http://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/sear...-of-park-5748/

and it certainly looks the same, except the stone facade is different I think but all other architectural points seem to match (which they would of course if the same design was used) - however, the landscape in the background is what convinced me it is this castle (and I would love to holiday there!)

they seem to have gotten a couple others right too ... I don't think it will take long for most to be identified

this is going to send me down the rabbit hole - thanks zwiebel
I could be at this for hours (not that I will identify any but it's just the kind of thing that sucks me in & everything looks familiar after awhile)

I agree! It's got to be the same castle. So much for my mill theory.
