I'm so sorry to hear this .... have always liked him.

One of his sons used to live in Peachtree City GA and when we went to the Japanese restaurant, the walls were covered with autographed pictures of him. We never saw him there but often passed his sons house. I think it was Chip that lived there.

    Blessings to you, Jimmy.

    Unhappy

How sad. I just saw this. They just had a segment on him on the docuseries on CNN The Seventies. He is a good guy, and I don't blame him for not rescuing the hostages in Iran. Reagan was engineering backdoor deals with them to prevent Carter's rescue even before Reagan was president!

I know we on WS are so often presented with people who claim to be persons of faith but are not living their faith, only preaching it to others.

President Carter is one of those people for whom his faith is not only a defining point in his legacy, but is evident in his words AND deeds.

    This is a wonderful read for any and all;

President Carter is one of the most wonderful, giving ,caring people on earth. The world is a better place for many because of him.

I hope peace for him and that he doesn't suffer in this medical crisis.

    by Hallie Jackson

Former president Jimmy Carter's cancer diagnosis, at age 90, is spotlighting how doctors treat cancer in the elderly.

Twenty-eight percent of new cancer cases are diagnosed in people over 75, according to the American Cancer Society an estimated 465,000 new cases this year alone.

At the same time, the number of elderly people who survive cancer will increase by forty percent over the next decade...

"I have had a wonderful life."

Jimmy Carter on cancer: Future in God's hands

Former President will answer questions Thursday

Author: By Stephen Collinson and Eugene Scott CNN

Published On: Aug 20 2015 06:20:32 AM EDT Updated 35

    WASHINGTON (CNN) -
In a remarkable press conference marked by grace and devoid of self-pity, former President Jimmy Carter said Thursday that four spots of cancer had spread to his brain.

Carter, 90, said he initially thought he had only weeks to live when he first learned of the diagnosis. He's now more optimistic, placing his fate in the hands of God. At the news conference in Atlanta where he sat alone before a bank of reporters and cameras, Carter said he would begin a course of radiation therapy on Thursday afternoon.

"I have had a wonderful life," Carter said with the same unsparing honesty and meticulous detail that marked his presidency. "I'm ready for anything and I'm looking forward to new adventure," Carter said, in the 40-minute appearance before the cameras, in which he frequently beamed his huge smile and never fell prey to emotion...

I got to meet him at a book signing several years ago. He was kind and generous with his time. His staff actually passed out bags of peanuts to those of us waiting in line. He really is a class act.

Get well soon, President Carter !
I didn't follow career very much while he was in office since that was way back in the mid seventies ;but I know my parents voted for Carter -- and that they spoke well of him.
Thoughts and prayers for his loved ones as well.

I think President Carter is a great man...he was POTUS during a difficult time in our country. And post presidency he has been an incredible statesman. I am truly heartbroken.
