"RCMP say a man carrying a weapon burst into the woman's home on Wednesday afternoon before restraining her and demanding cash and other items.

She could not comply and he physically and sexually assaulted her, causing significant injuries although she has since been released from hospital."

Officers are asking anyone who recognizes the man to come forward.

"Surrey RCMP have released photos of the man they believe is responsible for beating and sexually assaulting a 70-year-old woman in her own home on Wednesday.

The senior, who was bound and restrained during the daytime break-and-enter in South Surrey, was “traumatized” by the horrific assault, and has been hospitalized for her injures".

"Mounties say the man used an ATM in Langley just after the assault on Wednesday afternoon.

In the photos he appears to be:

A Caucasian male.
20 to 30 years old.
Five feet 10 inches to six feet tall with a medium build,
Clean shaven, no visible marks, scars or tattoos.
Shoulder-length hair at the time of the offence, but it may be a wig.

The man had a weapon when he allegedly entered the woman's house near 167th Street and 28th Avenue Wednesday afternoon and demanded cash and other items."

What a disgusting crime. I hope somebody recognizes this creep and calls it in.

"Police in Surrey are searching for a suspect after a 70-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in her own home."

This one hits close to home for me and angers me deeply. A close family member of mine who was 71 at the time suffered a very similar break in and assault. It has been a year since that happened and she is still trying to process what happened to her. Still going to weekly counseling sessions. Still afraid to be in her own home alone.

My most sincere prayers go out to this victim. She may never feel safe again. Ever. :(

I could tell he was in his 40s by the atm pic from the side. I knew he wasn't in his 20s or 30s. The blonde wig made him look even older. Jmo. I'm glad they caught him.

Canada seems to be catching fairly quick lately. Good job.

Video and a bit more info.
Considering that he has not previously been on LE radar, it would be interesting to learn imo, if this 42 yr.old's dna might be connected to any other sex crimes.
