Family of missing Modesto woman searches for her along river
They came with walking sticks, golf clubs, broom handles and old rebar to tromp through the brush and search for clues.

More than two dozen friends and family of 43-year-old Modesto resident Lisa Valdez conducted a search for her along the banks of the Tuolumne River near Dryden Park Golf Course on Saturday morning. The mother of three has been missing since July 22, when she was last seen near the edge of the course walking toward the river.

“She has never been gone this long before. She always called me every couple of days to talk no matter what,” said her mother, Modesto resident Lydia Toledo. “Family and friends know this is totally out of character for her.”

The Modesto Police Department put out a missing person bulletin on Valdez on Thursday asking for public assistance in finding her. She was classified “at risk” and possibly suffering from mental health issues.

does she have a history of substance abuse? was she having a mental health episode? it doesnt look good that she is gone so long :(

Essentially, she has a 2 year old son with her boyfriend, whom she lives with. He waited 4 days to report her missing. That's alarming unto itself, but not necessarily related.

Apparently a groundskeeper and golfers saw her on July 26, but that's not confirmed. I wonder what led her to leave? If this is all credible, it sounds like she got involved with drugs.

"According to police she left her home on the 900 block of Roselawn Avenue on the morning of July 22 wearing a red tank top, khaki shorts and flip-flops. She is 5 feet 4 inches tall with brown eyes and shoulder-length curly black hair.

Family members said she left without her car, purse or wallet. Her phone is also missing.

Valdez’s family hired a private investigator to look for her. Toledo said they found out Valdez was last seen pacing back and forth and “acting erratically” near the fourth and fifth holes of the Dryden course before she headed off toward the river.

Valdez was unemployed but last did office work with a temporary agency; previously she was with the Stanislaus County Alliance.

She has three children: a 2-year-old boy who lives with her and her boyfriend; a 14-year-old boy who lives with his father; and a 22-year-old daughter who lives on her own.

Valdez’s young son celebrated his second birthday around the time of her disappearance. He is now being cared for by her boyfriend, who reported Valdez missing July 26."

Mystery over, but not misery, for family of missing Modesto woman

She was last seen along the Tuolumne River near the Dryden Park golf course on July 22, 2015. Then, earlier this summer, a woman’s remains were discovered roughly 28 miles downstream and along the San Joaquin River at Durham Ferry south of Manteca, west of the confluence of the two rivers. The family learned this week that the DNA confirmed they were, indeed, Lisa’s.
