The parents are able to pay the high ransom demand, going by this, so it's obviously someone who knows how wealthy they are. Germans are not ostentatious about their wealth, in my experience, so it's probably a suspect familiar with the father's business (I think the wealth comes from that).

The parents have appealed to the alleged perpetrators in a letter released by the police, writing: “The kidnappers should know that we will fulfill the stipulated demands in order to be able to have our child back in our arms soon.”...

Germany has a long history of kidnapping for ransom, with a recent case in June this year involving the abduction of the mentally-disabled son of one of Germany's richest businessmen, Reinhold Würth, who has an estimated net worth of $7.4 billion (6.675 billion euros), according to Forbes magazine.
With so many kidnaps in Germany ending in tragedy, I think it's a great shame German police haven't changed their techniques over the years. That includes the astounding habit of concealing the names of missing people for privacy reasons. It makes no sense to me to put privacy above finding them where missing juveniles are concerned, and I think it hampers any tips coming in when people aren't sure exactly who it is that's missing.

The latest updates with forensic vans arriving makes it seem like they've found a body, or are searching for one.

Even though there are thousands of run down, abandoned houses in former East Germany, I find it difficult to understand how any suspects could have holed up unnoticed in the small village of Lampersdorf, where police are searching. I think locals may have noticed someone there and tipped off police.

They were searching a dumpster earlier. That is not as ominous as it would be in the US though. Germany sorts and recycles nearly all of its trash, so no murderer with a bit of sense would put a body in a dumpster - it would almost certainly be discovered. Plus, the dumpster would have been hired and will be due to be collected, and the driver will have seen whoever ordered it.

From Lampersdorf where police believe the suspects were hiding out in the abandoned farmhouse, it's a really short journey to the Czech Republic or Poland. There's no border checks so Aneli could easily have been taken out of Germany.

unfortunately they are now sure the body is the missing girl. How very very sad. We do not have that kind of crime here very often and given the fact that the parents were willing and able to pay the ransome makes it even more evil. I guess Pos's travel the world any way.

    Roughly translated

    http://www.n-tv.de/panorama/Anneli-k...e15744816.html

The case Anneli is cleared. The 17-year-old was the victim of a crime of greed. Two men sit strongly suspects already in custody. At least one of the two was the girl known. Therefore, the police called a concealment murder.

Two male suspects, a 39-year-old and a 61-year-old were arrested Monday after they were found by tracking cell phones and matching one of the suspects' DNA, which was found on the girl's bicycle. His DNA had been entered into a national database when he was previously investigated for a sexual offense.

Police said that, during questioning, one of the suspects gave them information that led them to the location of the body.
