Woman missing in double murder investigation

(Columbia) September 6, 2005 - A double murder investigation has now turned into a missing person case for Columbia police.

Investigators say they were called out to a home on Mildred Avenue around 5:30 Sunday evening. Officers arrived to find two men dead, both shot at least one time. Twenty-seven-year-old Kevin L. Harris Miller and 52-year-old George Battie died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Forty-six-year-old Desiree Felder is missing in connection with the case. Police believe she was there visiting and is a victim in the case. Authorities say she was the girlfriend of one of the victims.

Call Columbia police if you have any information at 545-3500, or Crimestoppers at 1-888-559-TIPS.

Do we know why they believe that she is a victim and not a suspect?

    sorry,no

Sorry I have no idea why she is considered a victim rather than a suspect and this is actually the only thing I was able to find online about the case.maybe someone else can come up with more that lives in that area?

A body found Wednesday in Richland County was identified Thursday as the woman reported missing following the slayings of her boyfriend and another man.

An autopsy showed that Desiree M. Felder, 46, had been shot in the head.

She was clothed and lying on her back, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said. It is unknown whether she was sexually assaulted.

Richland County Sheriff’s Lt. Chris Cowan said the case is under investigation.

Just when I think that I have seen the most depraved things a human can do to another human, somebody posts a new story...........

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

    From December 2007:

    http://www.wistv.com/story/7514387/j...type=printable

Stanley Oliver and Dominic Gallman are guilty of three counts of murder, plus armed robbery, burglary, and kidnapping. Jurors deliberated about four hours. Another man, Kenneth Joy, was acquitted of seven counts of accessory after the fact...

Oliver and Gallman killed George Batie, Kevin Miller and Desiree Felder September 4, 2005. Oliver and Gallman went to Batie's home on Mildred Avenue in Richland County and robbed him. They took drugs and money. Batie and his friend Kevin Miller were shot and killed... Oliver and Gallman thought Felder knew something about money at a storage center. Deputy solicitor John Meadors says, "We believe Ms. Felder would not tell them where the storage center was. We believe Mr. Oliver and Mr. Gallman walked Ms. Felder into the woods and executed her"...

Both Oliver and Gallman were sentenced to life in prison.
