DC - Christine 'Chrissy' Hazelbaker, 33, Washington, 8 Aug 2015

    Christine “Chrissy” Hazelbaker

Missing Fairfax Co. woman’s phone, purse found in woods
She had perishable food left on the kitchen counter, her apartment windows were left open and she hasn’t touched her bank account, her sister says. Now family of a missing Fairfax County woman is making a plea for help.

“We are doing everything we know how to do as a family,” says Lisa Owings.

Her younger sister, Christine “Chrissy” Hazelbaker, 33, hasn’t been seen or heard from since Aug. 8 and Owings says the family has started a social media campaign now that the search for*Hazelbaker is now well into its second week.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

I am not sure why they are saying that her car was found at a church in Clifton, as that area is not Clifton.

It looks like there's going to be an organized search party on Monday (per the Find Chrissy Facebook page). Why not until Monday?

^ in the comments it says that most of the admins of the FB page will be away this weekend, therefore no organized search until Monday.

Here's a map that also shows her residence...

If she were walking home, then she should have turned down Roberts Road, but it appears that her phone and purse were found off of Commonwealth, past Roberts.

In response to the article's misinformation regarding the church, I believe that is because they searched the church in Google Maps and it came up with a location in Clifton, even though the church she was last seen leaving from is at the intersection of Twinbrook/Guinea and Commonwealth.

I used to live in that neighborhood. If she were walking to her apartment, it would actually make sense to walk down Commonwealth instead of taking Guinea. Guinea is a more highly-traveled road with limited sidewalks. Commonwealth is the main road through a neighborhood and I believe she would have sidewalks the entire way, or at least until she reached Roberts Rd.

I also don't understand why the police are not not considering her endangered (per the WTOP article). No one has heard from her in almost 2 weeks, perishable food was left out in her house, her purse and phone were found abandoned in the woods and her bank account hasn't been touched.

That was exactly my thought. I certainly would not want to walk down Guinea to her house and would've definitely chosen to take Commonwealth to Roberts. I am sure there are trails and paths through the wooded areas, but am unclear as to where they are. I'm going to try to take a closer look tomorrow, if I have a chance.

Unless she was planning to walk down Sideburn and cross the train tracks, then cut through the wooded area to her neighborhood.

One article stated she had been attending AA meetings regularly at a local church. Wonder if she suffered a relapse?
