NM NM - Tara Calico, 19, Belen, 20 Sept 1988

I wonder if New Mexico Police ever checked into who registered 1953 Pick Up trucks like the one seen following Tara on her last bike ride. Such a vehicle would have been relatively rare in 1988 (35 years old) - even if you include other trucks of that year and related model years. Such vehicles are not normally driven across country very often, and would probably have been based and registered in NM at the time.

Ever since I first heard about this case on Unsolved Mysteries I have wondered about it. Does anyone have any new information on Tara Calico? Has anything new been found out about the origion of these horrible photographs.

This case has always interested me....I truly believe that the picture of the woman is Tara Calico.

I also found this yesterday while looking at another case. Can't remember where but it was on WS somewhere. Also very interesting. Anyone know if this little boy was ever found?

I found this article as well and I think this is the first photo I've seen that does not separate the girl and the boy but has them in the same picture. I also found the last sentence very interesting as I did not know that Tara was a fan of VC Andrews.

wow...just seeing the entire picture of her makes it all the more scarier. All of the pictures I've seen of her before have just been a headshot. The eyes definitely resemble those of Tara.

I just want to give a word of caution to anyone who looks at the photo of the young woman and the boy. Although there is nothing pornographic depicted in the photograph, it is extremely frightening to look at. I read about Tara Calico when I first came to WS in 2004 and I looked at this picture and I believe it is Tara. The picture haunted me for weeks to the point of having nightmares and feeling physically ill about what these two people have been through. I will never get the look of terror in the eyes of these two out of my head. Regardless if this is Tara or not, this young boy and young woman have obviously been held against their will and had terrible things done to them.

I know it's important for people to view this photo to try to help identify/find them, but just wanted to give this warning. I pray that one day the mystery of this photograph is solved and there is justice for these two. I also pray that the animal that held or is holding this young woman and young boy is found and punished severely for the rest of his/her miserable life.

This case, and that photograph, are just so incredibly horrible. There's an Unsolved Mysteries page that has uploaded the clip of Tara's story on the show. They show the actual color version of the picture, and side-by-side comparisions with Tara and Michael Henley. (You do have to register to view it.) The URL is www.echoesoffear.com.

that picture does look like her and its very disturbing the look in their eyes.....It makes you feel so helpless to see photos of people against their will and you cant do a darn thing about it.....its a scary world.....i have one child and i swear i dont want anymore for fear of things that "can" happen.....i know its not good to live in fear but i cant help it....

In different sites and posts a picture is described of a woman wrapped in gauze with big glasses on (on a train?). While I'm not particularly interested in saying that picture, they keep saying the "the man beside her" is posted, but it is never posted and I have never seen "the man beside her." Has anyone ever seen that suspect/man? If he truly is some sort of suspect, you'd think LE would want to plaster his pic all over the internet.

Yes, I've heard of this picture and I too, have never seen it. I didn't realize though that it was associated with this same case. Do you have any links with info or should I check the old WS forum for them? I need to research this a bit, I've just been so busy.

The convience store the photos were found at is right on Hwy 98 which stretches all the way down into the Tampa area and perhaps further. It was in the Port St Joeseph/ Mexico beach area of FL.

Witnesses said they saw a girl walking on the beach with a couple of men walking behind her. They felt it may have been the girl in the photo being allowed to walk along the beach in close guard by the men. I never heard that the boy was seen on the beach at the time then.
I will add that being a tourist area this may have easily been just a father and daughter vacationing or visiting with another friend or male relative.

Re: the picture of the woman on the Amtrak train-- I know I have seen this picture somewhere, but I've spent all afternoon looking on Google and can't find it. When I saw it, it seemed to be a fake, or a photo done as a joke. You couldn't see the man's face very well, from what I recall. He was in profile looking at the woman, who had gauze around her face and big sunglasses on.

It was just too bizarre-- if a woman was in danger on an Amtrak train, I hope someone would notice!

I wish there was more publicity for this case! There are some good leads to go on as far as where Tara may have been taken and what vehicle she may have been traveling in. If there had been message boards like these, and Trucking Boards and such, people would have been more aware and maybe those poor kids would be safe right now.

I don't see how anyone could NOT be moved and want to help when they see that photograph-- the terror and pain is just so obvious in their faces. They need HELP!

This story is just terrible. How could the police not have pursued this more?

Someone is walking around free after kidnapping two people, and that makes
me sick. I hope Tara's family has closure someday.

When I looked at this picture I thought it was not a little boy but a thin petite female. It looks to me like this person has samll breasts and the hands liook feminie. Of course my observation could be all wrong. What a horrible photo.

Mr. E, that's what I suspected. I posted my thoughts in Tristen's thread in one of the missing forums.
