By Johnathan Manning

A person walking on John Koonce Road in Moss Bluff on Nov. 23, 2009, found Bouzigard's body. Mancuso said at the time that she died of blunt-force trauma to the head.

It took more than 10 hours before authorities were able to identify the body, but they then began to piece together her last moves. Bouzigard was last seen at an apartment on Victoria Drive a couple miles away from John Koonce Road.

At least 22 people, all acquaintances of Bouzigard, who were with her in the hours before her death, were interviewed. Sixteen were in the country illegally and were jailed following her death.

LAKE CHARLES— New technology is pointing the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office toward a whole new direction in a homicide cold case from 2009.

[...]
Prior to her murder, Bouzigard was reportedly last seen in the company of several illegal immigrants. Given that information, Mancuso said the investigation has since focused on hispanic males.

However, DNA analysts, using a service they learned about in a webinar earlier this year, discovered that the DNA taken from the crime scene is from a Caucasian male. At the Tuesday news conference, CPSO DNA Technical Leader Monica Quaal said that the company Parabon NanoLabs, Inc. has taken technology similar to that used by Ancestry.com and expanded upon it to determine physical characteristics such as eye and hair color.

“All along we have been focusing on a Hispanic male because that is the direction our evidence took us," said Mancuso. "Now we know it is a white male, with fair/very fair skin, green or blues eyes and brown/black hair so now our investigation will move in a different direction thanks to this profile. Not only does it give us characteristics of a suspect, it also helps us to eliminate certain factions of the population as suspects.”

Cold Case: Who killed Sierra Bouzigard?

KPLC-7

MOSS BLUFF, LA (KPLC) - It was a person walking on John Koonce Road in Moss Bluff that discovered a woman's body on the morning of Nov. 23, 2009.

It was a challenging case from the beginning. It took investigators more than 10 hours to identify the victim.

"A case like this is really frustrating," said Lt. Les Blanchard, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Division.
Blanchard has been investigating violent crimes for 14 years and said this case was at a standstill until fingerprints identified their victim as 19-year-old Sierra Bouzigard.

[...]
An autopsy revealed Bouzigard died from blunt force trauma to the head. Other answers to how she ended up on the side of the road have been harder to come by.

[...]
While there have been a lot of dead leads, Sheriff Tony Mancuso believes a break in their case was collecting a full DNA profile from evidence at the scene.

Going thru some of my older threads - I noticed there is a fee to pay for court records.
Guessing no one has heard anything "new" for this case?

TIA! :)
