113-year-old Ruth Newman has died in her home at Pebble Beach, California. She was one of only two survivors of the devastating earthquake in San Francisco in 1906. Although her family lived 70 miles north of the city at a ranch in Healdsburg, Ruth still recalled her father picking her up and running for his life, when she was aged five.

Ruth passed away July 29, but news of her death has just been released.

The remaining survivor of the 'quake is 109-year-old William Del Monte of Marin County, who was three months old when it struck.
