    Australia - Kathleen Bautista, 19, Canberra, 5 September 2015

    Kathleen Bautista

Police appeal for public help to find missing Canberra woman Kathleen Bautista
"Police hold very serious concerns for a 19-year-old woman from Gordon in Canberra's south who has been missing since Saturday morning.

Kathleen Bautista was last seen driving a black Hyundai i30 hatchback with registration number YHE47L in Chapman at 7:00am on Saturday.

Police said she was sending text messages to her boyfriend and family that morning which led police to be concerned about her safety."

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Police have concentrated their search efforts in the Lower Molonglo Nature Reserve, after tracking the 19-year-old's mobile phone.

Wow! That is rare to read here. I'm very happy for her, such a beautiful young woman.

    From the link:

"The injured 19-year-old Kathleen Bautista climbed at least 100 metres uphill after escaping her upturned car in the Cotter reserve area, to the west of Canberra. It's understood she survived drinking creek water, but had not eaten anything."

I assume she wasn't able to climb all the way up to street level, either because it was too steep or because of her injuries.

This is one lucky lady! The search crews did a wonderful job!

ETA: this article says she has leg and abdominal injuries.

I watched an interview with one rescuer who was brought to tears when recalling first seeing Kathleen's hand waving at him. The happiness they must have felt when they were expecting to recover a body.
