Authorities are searching for a 20-year-old man with diabetes after his family reported him missing.

Elijah "Bear" Diaz was last seen Saturday, Aug. 29 near his home in El Cajon, east of San Diego.

Diaz is a diabetic and is most likely on crutches because of a serious foot injury, his family told police. They are concerned because Diaz does not have proper medication with him and he has missed several doctor appointments.

He was last seen wearing white bareball shorts and a gray sleeveless shirt. Diaz is approximately 5 feet 10 inches and weighs 110 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department confirmed they are investigating as well as local police.

Anyone with tips regarding Bear, please contact the El Cajon Police Department at (619) 579-3311.

Thank you for posting, Bessie! Bear is the son of someone I went to church with before I moved away and some of my dearest friends are very close to Bear's family. I'm working on trying to get people that know him well to sign up and become verified so they can give info!

I've passed that link along and hopefully Bear's mom and this come can touch bases soon to see if there is a connection!

Search Efforts Renewed for Missing El Cajon Man
September 22, 2015

Beginning at 10 a.m., family, friends and volunteers planned to go door-to-door on Joey Avenue and surrounding streets in El Cajon search of 20-year-old Elijah Diaz, missing since Aug. 29.

His parents said several items are missing from his room – his glasses, one glove, one sandal and his big screen TV – leaving them with a strange feeling. A private investigator hired by the family agrees the case seems suspicious.

Lt. Frank Lahaye with the El Cajon Police Department said officers are actively investigating this missing person case but, at this time, the Department does not believe Diaz’s disappearance is suspicious. As of Tuesday, Lahaye said police have classified the case as “inconclusive.” Police said Diaz has a history of taking off.

According to loved ones, Diaz is 5-foot-10 and 110 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He may be on crutches due to a serious foot injury.

Please be safe, Bear. :(

Bumping for Elijah. No indication about gender/race/etc yet, but Bear was one of the missing I thought of when I saw this.

Partial human remains were discovered on the walking path at Lake Hodges in Escondido Saturday.(...)

A human jawbone, femur and some other parts were discovered by a woman in the area walking her two dogs, who noticed the bones along a well-traveled trail, Sgt. Jack Reynolds, San Diego County Sheriff's said.

"At this point, we can't tell if it's a male or female, or how long the remains have been there. It's been longer than a week, I mean, it is pretty much decomposed and it's skeletonized," Sgt. Reynolds said.

I'd be surprised if it's him - in part b/c of location (especially since he was on crutches)

Also, just from my own experience walking those trails, I think you'd either have to know well to think to dump someone (and also know the foot traffic patterns in the area - as it's a highly walked/run/biked trail at all hours really - in order to risk not being caught) or else likely to be someone who was already on foot (for recreation, to try to get somewhere, or just wandering because they were transient, etc.)

I think Skylar Peterson Tosic is MUCH more likely - https://www.facebook.com/HelpFindSkylarPetersonTosic

He also has health problems, but was actually last seen in Escondido just shy of 6 weeks ago (albeit on the other side of the 15 near the WAP)

His mom has been on several location news stations since the remains were found yesterday and fears it may be Skylar.

KGTV 10 did a thing with her last night - here's something on Preston Phillip's FB about it, as he was one covering the story at 11 pm. https://www.facebook.com/PrestonPhi...7973805249818/875273102519882/?type=3&fref=nf

Video of where the remains were found here (it was off the path nearer the water) https://twitter.com/HopeCBS8/status/655505011300941824

Here is a Facebook page that Bear's family made for him around the end of September. https://www.facebook.com/BringBearDiazHome

One of the earliest posts says: "August 29th, 2015, Bear was dropped off at his home at 10:30pm, at 4 pm the next day his mom brought him dinner, and he was not there. TV, Comforter and Sheets were missing as well as his back pack that he took every where and the crutches he needed to get around, due to a foot injury he was healing from. He was not able to drive, someone picked him up, he could not carry his TV and bedding while using his crutches, Someone helped him leave, was it willingly? Or was it forced? We do not know. But we do know that someone knows what happened, someone carried his stuff and drove him away from his home. Please continue to spread the word, and pray that the truth is revealed..."

Thanks for the info and explanation of the area TravelingBug! I'm not at all familiar with the area so I was afraid I might be totally off base, sorry. Skylar does seem like a more likely match. Whoever it is unfortunately, a family will be getting answers/bad news and another one will be left searching.

Skylar went missing right around the same time that Bear did. The first comment on this post is by his mom, saying her son was missing with someone named Eli. So coincidental. https://m.facebook.com/KUSINews/posts/10153498774476068

The whole thing with Skylar is definitely weird - he sort of went missing two weeks prior to when he really went missing for good, and seems to have gotten hooked up with a fringe-cult-ish type group.

But the similarities timing wise between the two, and even really age and sort of general appearance and both physically not being totally well is a little interesting.

I saw Bear's family said that they were searching w/ Skylar's family with a dog Amber Dubouis' family uses now (for those unfamiliar she was kidnapped walked to school in Escondido - later found to have been murdered by the same guy who lured and murdered Chelsea King and left her remains on the opposite side of Lake Hodges where the remains were found yesterday)

Both families also have a PI involved. I know in Skylar's case it's Bill Garcia (I'm not a fan after some of the stuff he's pulled in other cases - including Amber's, but...)

I'm not sure if Bear's family is also using BG or someone else?

I think it'll end up being a strange fluke there are some commonalities, but is it interesting since it's not like we have a ton of missing people in San Diego (and the suburbs) given the population.

Very true!

And it could be someone else altogether who doesn't have family vocally out there talking about their loved one (or a family who doesn't know family member was missing)

It's driving me nuts b/c we had another case VERY similar to this one within the last few years.

A young man had some degree of disability (so more severe than Bear's complications from the diabetes) and was in a wheelchair and some guys came and took him and I think put him in his wheelchair in the bed of a truck and drove off with him (and I think things from the home).

I don't recall if someone had been locked in another room and that's how they knew someone took him in that truck or what...but strangely similar in other aspects.

Anyone remember who that was? My hunting hasn't found it yet! I've been looking since this case with Bear first was in the news.

I hope Bear and Skyler are both found safe and well. I was also taken by the similarities between the two boys, particularly age range and stature. I wonder if police took finger prints in Bear's room to try to determine who took his belongings out. Even if he is gone willingly, he definitely would have needed help moving stuff.
