Investigators in Meerut, India say they have arrested Dr Jitendra Chaudhary after he auctioned the unwanted baby of a single mom and a failed bidder complained to police. Kahleem Ahmed had bid R20,000 (about $300) which was accepted but the baby was then sold to a richer couple for R50,000 (about $750).

Ahmed went to police and accused the doctor of cheating. Dr Chaudrey is now in custody charged with child trafficking and his credentials as a doctor are also under investigation as discrepancies have been found.

Authorities are still trying to trace the baby's mom.
