    AZ - Diane Kay, 56, Scottsdale, 11 September 2015

    Diane M. Kay

Scottsdale police search for missing woman

"The Scottsdale Police Department is asking for the public's help finding a missing Scottsdale woman.

Diane M. Kay, 56, was last seen at her home in the area of Hayden and Indian Bend roads about 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11.

Diane left her vehicle, cell phone, purse, and wallet with credit cards at her residence. Family and friends report that this is highly unusual for Diane as she has never done anything like this."

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

I can't establish from the articles if she was home alone or if other people were also at the residence. It sounds almost like she simply walked out the front door and didn't come back. I notice on the Find Diane Facebook page that someone states they are friends with her mother-in-law, so I assume that means there is a husband involved in this somewhere.

They need to provide more information about the circumstances surrounding this.

Volunteers needed to search for missing Scottsdale woman

Family and friends of a missing Scottsdale woman are looking for volunteers to help conduct a grid search for her on Saturday.

Diane M. Kay, 56, disappeared a week ago. She was last seen at her home in the area of Hayden and Indian Bend roads about 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11.

Kay left her vehicle, cell phone, purse, and wallet with credit cards at her residence. Family and friends report that this is highly unusual for Diane as she has never done anything like this.

Last seen at her home so there was someone there who saw her. I wish they would just identify who last saw her instead of playing this game.

It could have been one of her neighbors that saw her last at 5 p.m., we simply don't know.

I guess I'll never quite understand why the families of these missing persons seem to play so coy with useful information when it comes to trying to find someone. Those tiny details and the circumstances surrounding their disappearance sometimes provide the biggest clues, and yet that information is always conveniently excluded or glossed over.

Only after the person has been missing a couple of months or more do they come forward and finally offer up information that should have been known since day one, and might have made a huge difference. It's almost like a riddle, we'll give you a little bit of information now, and if that doesn't work, we'll give you a little more info. next week, and if that doesn't work, we'll give you a little more info. after that........and so forth and so on.

It seems to me that if they were really serious, they would drop an information bomb on the public with everything they know about what happened before, during, and after the disappearance. Everything that might help jog a persons memory.

I'm not just talking about this case either, I'm talking about 90% of the cases we see on here. Many times people lament on here why there isn't more interest in a case. The reason is because the more information that is withheld, the less clues there are to work with, and the less helpful the readers feel they might be. They simply move on to other cases where there is more information available. The complete lack of useful information regarding the disappearance is why people lose interest and move on to the next thread.

You would think that the people that run these "Help Find" Facebook pages would have figured all that out by now.

I completely agree with you Steelman. I was searching for an American tourist who went missing in my village here in Scotland and I had no assistance from LE as to where they had already searched, the family gave out almost no information to the press whatsoever, and it took almost two months for them to contact me directly to offer more info that could guide my search. In hindsight, once she was found, more information was released that would have been far more useful to me while I was searching. I think if you truly want to find someone, you pull out all the stops, you bury your privacy and pride and just communicate again and again and again publicly, engaging with anyone at all who wants to help you find your loved one, answering questions, offering any kind of insights at all, no matter how insignificant they may appear. Every ounce of info can be useful, and should be out there. Guessing = time wasting. Answers should be available and facts be open. After all, working with truth is so much more fruitful than working by second guessing.
