  • Missing since 24 August
  • Was last seen leaving a Melton, Melbourne petrol station where she'd purchased soft drink and cigarettes (edit: it looks as if she bought more than that to me, judging by the CCTV footage ... perhaps sweets or something also?)
  • Drives a blue Ford sedan
  • Was last seen wearing black track pants with a stripe down the side, a grey hooded sweatshirt with a white pattern on the front, and white sneakers
  • Has not used her phone, bank account or Facebook since going missing

Key points from the above articles:

- Simone has two sons who she usually contacts every second day (but hasn't done so since going missing).

- She had been living with a male friend, but before she went missing she was reaching out to friends for a place to stay.

- Simone has apparently 'taken time out' in the past to deal with issues, and is known to be suffering from some issues at the current time; however, she has never been gone for so long.

- The blue car she was traveling in - as per that pictured in the CCTV shots in the articles above - could hold a clue to her whereabouts as it is not known who owns this. [My own gut feel is that it's a Ford Falcon, 2003-2010 model, but I could be wrong!].

- Curiously, she went to the petrol station twice - the first time at 10:20pm (when she drove through the forecourt); and then again 30 minutes later, at which point she parked at the front of the station and went in to buy the drink and cigarettes. Why didn't she stop and go in at 10:20pm? What was her reason for keeping on driving?

- Her body language in the CCTV footage above is interesting - she seems very fidgety / nervous and paces a fair bit.

Looks like an AU Falcon to me for sure - I had one for years in that colour too. (RIP my car, it got sent to the wreckers in 2011).
And yes, her behaviour seems very anxious.

Wait, I think you mean the BA Falcon. It could be that model too, absolutely.

All I can think reading that is... why?

Dylan Jez, 24, pleaded guilty to being an accessory to the murder of mother-of-two Simone Quinlan, whose burned body was found near Bendigo in Central Victoria days after she disappeared in August 2015.

Two others — her boyfriend Brendan Neil, 29, and Wayne Marmo, 25 — will stand trial for murder.

September:

A man once charged with murdering a woman whose bashed and burned body was found in a Victorian mine shaft will be released from jail.

Dylan Jez, 24, was granted bail on Tuesday after prosecutors did not oppose his promise to the Victorian Supreme Court to reside in regional Victoria, remain drug-free, and put up a $150,000 surety.

Jez has been in custody since September last year.

In August he pleaded guilty to being an accessory to the murder of mother-of-two Simone Quinlan after a magistrate dropped a murder charge against him because of a lack of evidence.

He has yet to be sentenced.

Victorian mum ‘was tortured for hours’, witness tells court

A group of ice users sat smoking meth for three hours during a prolonged and bloody assault on a 33-year-old mother, a Melbourne court has heard.

A witness to the death of Melton woman Simone Quinlan told the Supreme Court of Victoria today that Ms Quinlan's boyfriend Brendan Neil tortured and tormented her on August 25, 2015.

She said she overheard a conversation between the two men during which Mr Marmo said to Mr Neil he had to "get rid of her" because "she's snitched before".

TS said she then accompanied Mr Marmo on a drive past Bendigo to find a mineshaft into which he and another friend dumped Ms Quinlan's body.

She said on the way, Mr Marmo pulled over and shot Ms Quinlan "maybe five" times.

A man on trial for the murder of Melbourne mum Simone Quinlan went to her house to exchange stolen chainsaws for ice, not kill her, a court has heard.

Defence lawyer Scott Johns has told the jury of 13 in closing arguments in the Supreme Court trial on Thursday it was Mr Neil’s brutal beating on that day that killed Ms Quinlan.

He went on to say there was no evidence Mr Marmo “intentionally encouraged” the vicious attack.

But prosecutor Kevin Doyle said witnesses had overheard Mr Marmo tell Mr Neil that Ms Quinlan was a snitch and that he had to “get rid of her”.

“That’s an act of overt encouragement,” Mr Doyle said.

As Marmo drove her to her final resting place, he admitted he got out and shot her in the head five times to be sure she was dead.

Mr Johns had earlier told the jury Ms Quinlan was already dead when shot and that Mr Marmo should be convicted on the lesser charge of attempted murder.

Man guilty of Vic mum's murder

A Victorian man who shot his friend's girlfriend in the head, dumped her body down a mineshaft and set her on fire has been found guilty of her murder.

Wayne Marmo, 25, had tried to claim he was not complicit in the actions of Simone Quinlan's boyfriend Brendan Neil, who allegedly beat and attacked her with a hammer at Melton before Marmo disposed of her body in August 2015.

Marmo was found guilty by a jury in the Supreme Court of Victoria on Monday and remanded in custody until May 18 for further mention.

Murdered mum Simone Quinlan’s family share heartache in Supreme Court

Sitting just metres from the two men guilty of her daughter’s murder, Lynda Quinlan told of the regret her and her husband, Wayne, felt for not being able to keep her safe.

She also detailed how Simone’s eldest son, 14, had at times blamed himself for her death.

“Nothing will ease his pain,” she said. “Some days he blames himself and thinks he could have saved his mum.

“He said he wanted to be an angel so that he could be in heaven with his mother.”

Simone’s boyfriend Brendan Neil has pleaded guilty to her murder after he brutally beat her around the head in their Melton home on August 25, 2015.

His friend Wayne Marmo was also this month found guilty by a jury of her killing.

Marmo will return to the Supreme Court on July 20.

Mr Johns argued there was evidence Ms Quinlan died either at the house or as a result of Neil's attack, and was already dead when Marmo shot her in the head.

He agreed Marmo's moral culpability was high, and that his presence during Neil's attack encouraged the violence.

Clinical neuropsychologist Jane Lofthouse also gave evidence on Thursday, stating Marmo had an intellectual impairment placing him at high risk of criminal offending.

Marmo, who has already served 622 days in pre-sentence detention, was remanded in custody to be sentenced at a later date.

Men jailed for murdering Melbourne woman who 'snitched' about domestic violence
ABC News
BY EMMA YOUNGER
UPDATED ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO (as at 19:00 AEDT 14 December 2017)

‘Two Melbourne men have been jailed for murdering a woman as punishment for making a family violence complaint to police.

Simone Quinlan, 33, was bashed, shot and dumped in a mineshaft where her body was set alight in August 2015.

Her boyfriend of four months, 31-year-old Brendan Neil, has been sentenced to 26 years' jail for viciously attacking the mother of two at his Melton home in Melbourne's west.

She had reported Neil to police weeks earlier for hitting her in the head with a baseball bat.

On the night of her murder, Ms Quinlan was taunted by Neil who beat her in front of a group of his friends, at one point taping up her head and telling her she "looked beautiful like that".

One of his friends, Wayne Marmo, had been smoking the drug ice and sat in the kitchen cutting down the barrel of a rifle during the vicious assault.

The 26-year-old told Neil they would need to get rid of Ms Quinlan as she had "snitched" to police before.

Marmo and Neil wrapped her body in a sheet and put her in the back of a ute.

It is not known whether Ms Quinlan was dead at that time.

Marmo drove to Kangaroo Flat in Bendigo with her body, stopping along the way to shoot her in the head after becoming concerned she was still alive.

He dumped her body in a mineshaft before setting it alight.

Meanwhile, Neil had gone to a pub to ensure he was recorded on CCTV.

Marmo has been sentenced to 22 years' jail for his role in the murder.’
