UK: Fresh probe into deaths of 9 young boys feared killed by paedophile Sidney Cooke

A major police probe has been launched into the unsolved murders of nine young boys feared killed by notorious paedophile Sidney Cooke.

The Sunday Mirror can reveal cops are investigating the theory senior officers in the 1980s covered up links to evil Cooke and his Dirty Dozen child sex ring.

The original probe identified 12 murdered boys as young as six thought to have fallen into their clutches, but only three of those cases were ever followed up.

The new Scotland Yard inquiry only came to light in documents released to the Sunday Mirror under Freedom of *Information laws following a complaint by one alleged victims family.

Just read that this monster is now 88. Wish he would just die already, although that makes me feel awful to say such a thing. His case is ghastly and for some reason he was released for a while in the late 90s. Why have his sentences been so lenient; he received 2 life sentences but is eligible for parole after 5 years? Is the English justice system much less harsh than the US? He should never be free.

Yes it is. No death penalty, and "life sentences" often end up being substantially less.

Maybe this is a dumb question but why does the UK only seem to make big breaks in notorious sexual abuses of children after the Perl is dead or old and demented and nearly dead? Apparently it sounds like his crimes have been known since the articles and comments reference him being in and out of jail. I don't get it. In the USA, the families of the victims would launch a petition drive and letter writing campaign to the Parole Board. They would get a district attorney's employee to show up plus give statements about why the Perl should stay in jail. How does it work in the UK?
