A woman who was badly burned as a baby when she fell on a steam vaporizer beside a couch has tracked down the nurse who comforted her, 38 years on.
Amanda Scarpinati was only 3 months old when the accident happened in New York and after a long stay in the hospital went through years of bullying because of her scars. She had an article from the 1977 Albany Medical Center though, and always wanted to thank the young nurse who was photographed gently holding her.
After failing to find her 20 years ago, Amanda recently put out a Facebook appeal and found her angel within a day; Susan Berger, a then-21-year-old nurse who is still working in healthcare in New York. She says she feels 'blessed' to be remembered after all these years.
