It does look good. With her parents not reporting her missing until 1989 we don't know how accurate that information would be.

I think she resembles this first one that you found, the years and ages line up too. Plus, she remained in a geographical comfort zone, only going from Alabama to TN. Not a far trek, and if she had gotten pregnant she would have had to slow down anwyay. Have you sent this in as a tip?

no i sure haven't. if y'all think it is worth checking i will though...do you think i should email the doe network or coosa county? or both?

I looked on the map, I-75 doesn't go through Greene County. Was I-80 re-named at some point?

you're right, it is nowhere near it at all. i am going to bother the doe network on this one right now.

The reason I'm curious is that this young lady

http://www.doenetwork.us/cases/26ufga.html

was found only a couple of years later along I-59 in GA, just south of the TN border. Follow I-59 a little north into TN, and you're on I-75. The girls share a lot of physical characteristics. I was originally looking at this young lady as a possible victim of Franklin Floyd. Does anyone know of other UIDs found in this area and time frame, or missing girls in the area?

well there goes being productive for me forr the rest of the day. i am currently printing out maps. and i am about to get on charley project and doe for ther rest of the day.

I wonder if it might also be of benefit in a case such as this one to also do a sort on NCMEC, Doenet, etc for other Jane Does of a similar description, or similar injuries, etc. Not with the initial purpose of learning this girl's identification, but perhaps to find other victims of the same killer.

Sometimes finding such links to two or more cases might reveal possible suspects or geographic locations/jurisdictions.

From the Doe Network....

"An official with the Campbell County [TN] Sheriff's Department stated that a possible serial killer worked the area of I-75 in the late 1990s. Authorities believe the murderer(s) may have picked up victims from nearby establishments and and disposed of the remains off of the interstate."

Here is an updated link to the unidentified girl found in Greene County, Tennessee in March 1985:

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/264uftn.html

This area is in the vicinity of the North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee borders.

Fred Howard Coffey, Jr. is the primary suspect in the murder of a little 8-year-old boy in Bristol, VA killed in 1986. Bristol is on the border of Tennessee and Virginia, and it is Fred's hometown.

In 1987, Coffey was convicted of murdering a 10-year-old girl in NC in 1979, and of molesting three children in 1986. He admitted to having molested over 100 children, and most likely killed others as well.

I wonder if this girl might be one of his victims?

How does this look as a possible match of a missing person to this Jane Doe? Compare the photos and artists conception drawings/ sculpture photos.

bumping case up. Any thoughts about a possible match between Greene County Jane Doe and Mary Jo Burnette?

Mary Jo's teeth make me wonder about her as a possible match for the I-59 Jane Doe mentioned in post #8. Her frame size makes it not as likely, as I-59 Jane Doe was physically larger......otoh, Mary Jo could have grown some if she was alive from the date of her disappearance till 1988.

TBI is once again looking at a 23-year-old cold case. Investigators hope if they put it back in the public eye, they will get fresh leads and be able to officially reopen the case.
