IL - Sex toy suit goes to trial
The trial for a local woman's lawsuit against 14 police officers for allegedly capering about with her sex toys and modeling her lingerie during a drug raid on her home opened Monday in federal court in Chicago. Plaintiff Dorothy Campbell filed the lawsuit and accused the officers of conducting an unreasonable search and seizure at her then-Raymond Street home in February 2003.
Officers handcuffed Brandon Campbell and his friends, then "went into (Dorothy Campbell's) dresser drawers and found (her) personal and private sex toys," the lawsuit said. the officers took them from the dresser and showed them to Campbell's son, asking him what his mother did with them, the lawsuit states. Then, "the raiding party took (her) personal and private sex toys and used
them for their own amusement and left them strewn about the residence," according to the lawsuit.

Illinois has a huge rash of bizzare cases, involving political and law enforcement misconduct going on or coming up shortly.
"A sergeant later showed up at Campbell's house and apologized for the incident, the lawsuit states, and his statements were videotaped by Jacob Campbell, another of Dorothy Campbell's sons.
Two days later, an officer made a report claiming there were pornographic images of a 14-year-old girl on a tape in the camera used to record the sergeant's apology. The week after the first raid, police headed to the Campbell home and seized the camera and tape."

Not only misconduct, but also a coverup. And yet the city still intends to fight. The article doesn't mention any charges filed in relation to the "pornographic images", so I am assuming that no such images were found. No mention as what led LE to assume there were "pornographic images" on the tape. No cannibis was found at the home.
Well, if LE can make assumputions, then I guess that I can to. Brandon C. p*ssed someone with "connections" off and they set out to get even. LE screwed that up by their misconduct and then compounded the problem with the coverup. And the city is compounding the whole problem, by defending the officers involved.
The police union there must be pretty powerful, and the government pretty weak.Just when I think that I have seen the most depraved things a human can do to another human, somebody posts a new story...........
Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

Here's one I've been keeping an eye on that you might be interested in. There's been quite a bit of activity on the story of late. Including, the reporter involved being given an award because she was threatened in pursuit of the story, the FBI is investigating wrong-doing and a lawsuit has been filed seeking up to $6M.
The story starts in Bridgeview where a couple of guys get together and build a golf dome. The city seeing the property becomes very excited and decides that they want it to lure a professional soccer team to town. The first partner sells his interest for $1.2M. The other partner basically says ... no way ... I built a golf dome, not an indoor soccer field, I don't want to sell.
That's when the harassment began. The poor guy was ticketed and fined on trumped up charges constantly. The village wanted that property and we're willing to do whatever it took to grab it. Eventually, hiring a *consultant* with mob ties to take it. The poor guy never received one slim dime on the deal.
This promises to be an interesting one.
