Cross-country trip ends in search for missing adult son in Portland
"PORTLAND, Ore. - It was suppose to be a post-retirement, cross-country camping trip and now an Indiana family is searching for their missing, Portland-area son, 33-year-old Trace Tipton.
Kim Mays and her husband left shortly before Labor Day. They stopped in Wyoming, Utah and Idaho; the entire time sending pictures of their travels to Tipton who would join them, camper in tow, on the trip.
Mays texted her son on the September 19, letting him know they were getting closer. He replied with a simple, "love you." Two-weeks later, she hasn't heard from him since."

10-02-2015, 09:12 AM #3The Portland resident was last seen on Sept 13, in his White Chevrolet Astro Van near the McDonalds, 3330 N.E 82nd Ave. His mother was the last person to have spoken to him, by phone, Sept. 19.
Police characterized Tipton as being depressed and a drug user while friends said he had been sober for some time. He was officially reported missing Sept. 27.

Tipton was recently working on a book about living on the streets in Portland. He is a white male, approximately 6’2” tall and about 220 pounds. He has black hair, hazel eyes and a large black beard.
Identifying tattoos include a mushroom patch on the lower left side of his abdomen above the left pelvic bone as well as a pistol on the inside of his front left forearm with words that read "Rise Above Burn It Down."
Tipton may be driving his White Chevrolet Astro Van believed to have Oregon license plates. The exact plate number is unknown, the family said.

Not sure if it really matters, but for the sake of accuracy, Trace is 33 years old. It looks like some articles originally had him listed as 22; most have since corrected their error.

Bumping for Trace. Maybe because he looks very much like a dear friend of mine, but his disappearance is really tugging at me and I wish there was something I could do to help, albeit from far away.
From the Find Trace Tipton FB, his family seems to be doing a great job in terms of getting the word out around Portland and Oregon as a whole. They've been distributing fliers all weekend and have also gotten his picture to all park rangers in Oregon.

Still waiting for some confirmation, but I *think* Trace has been found. His family is removing the FB page they made for him and the most recent post references a certain crowd-funding website saying that they are refunding the money because thankfully it wasn't needed.
