    NY - Tyrell, 10, & Manyia Yearby, 9, Bronx, 28 Sept 2015

    Tyrell Yearby and Manyia Yearby

    2 Bronx children missing
"The New York City Police Department is seeking help to find two Bronx children reported missing on Thursday after being gone for several days.

They are 10-year-old Tyrell Yearby and 9-year-old Manyia Yearby.

The NYPD says their mother gives the kids over to a cousin for watching but, this time, the cousin did not return with the children.

The children were last seen Monday, Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m. in front of their Westchester Avenue building."

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Haven't been seen since Monday? I'm guessing that is when mom gave them to the cousin for babysitting, but didn't anyone see them at all with the cousin after that? Didn't the school notice their absence -- it says they were wearing their school uniform coats.

BTW, Tyrell is 10, not 19 as stated in the thread title. Maybe a mod can fix the typo?

Which story do we go with?

    2 children missing from Bronx

Tyrell and Manyia Yearby were last seen Monday around 3:30 p.m. in front of their home in the Bronx. They were reported missing Oct. 1.

The two are believed to be with their mother, who does not have full custody. She picked up the children from another relative in front of their home and did not return them at the agreed upon time.

Slowly piecing this story together...I think.

Young Brother, Sister Reported Missing in NYC

Authorities say the children stay with their mother’s cousin, though it’s not a court-ordered custody situation. The mother asked to see the kids earlier this week and the cousin obliged, but the mother never returned them. The cousin has tried to contact the mother to no avail, police say.

Missing children to be reunited with guardian
"Detectives sat they have been in contact with the biological mother, and, as of Friday, they were working on a way for her to return the children."

It doesn't look like she has returned the children yet from what I've been able to find, but it sounds like this one might have a happy ending.
