A Manhasset dermatologist was found dead in the vestibule of a Chelsea apartment building Sunday morning and NYPD investigators are trying to determine whether foul play was involved, police said.

Kiersten Cerveny, 38, of Castle Ridge Rd., was found "unconscious and unresponsive" in the vestibule inside the West 16th Street building, near Seventh Avenue, when police responded to a 911 call at 8:32 p.m., police said. Cerveny was taken by EMS to Lenox Hill Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The New York City medical examiner will determine the cause of death; the investigation is ongoing, police said.

NYPD investigators are trying to determine whether foul play was involved, a police source said.

Investigators have video from inside the building showing two men carrying Cerveny down the stairs, a police source said. They have interviewed one of the men and are seeking to talk to the other, the source said.

She is a wife and mother of three young children.

RIP.

If they already have video of two men "carrying" her down the stairs....well, the police are way ahead of the game at this point.

I have nothing specific to add other than the fact that I very often am on this particular block in the city and was a bit surprised to see a murder just took place here. It's not a particularly sketchy block at all but like anywhere else, there are sometimes characters late at night walking through. I am wondering who these two men are and why they were carrying her downstairs if only to leave her in the building vestibule...

This one also says AM. The Newsday article has the error.

Cerveny’s wedding to Dr. Andrew Cerveny Jr. at the Gramercy Park Hotel was featured in the New York Times in December 2009. She received her medical degree from Tulane University and was the chief of dermatology at the Brooklyn Hospital Center for the past seven years. Her husband has a private dermatology practice in Massapequa.

She leaves behind three children ages 1 to 7, a source close to the family told PIX11.

Police are hoping that nearby surveillance cameras captured images of the assailant.

The Medical Examiner will determined the cause of death.

Cerveny was missing her underwear when found — and her panties were later discovered stashed in her purse, sources said.

Investigators were questioning a man who lives in the building and is believed to have been with Cerveny before she died, a police source said. They also were searching his apartment.

A man described by sources as “upset” called 911 to report an unresponsive woman and was still at the building waiting for help when an ambulance arrived, sources said.

But as soon as first responders began asking questions, he fled — only to call back 911 later to ask if Cerveny survived, sources said.

Cops said the 38-year-old mom was found unconscious in the building’s doorway around 8:30a.m. with bruises consistent with strangling, although a cause of death has not been determined.

“She’s been known to party a little,” a source said. “She was out late with her friends, out until 4, 4:30 (a.m.)”

[...]
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of death.

Sources said Cerveny was not robbed, and cops were able to identify her at the scene. They also said she was fully clothed when she was found.

Just saw this on news.
They said that the bruise around her neck may have been from prior injury.
If they update online, I'll post.

It's all so sad about these accomplished women getting murdered....Dr Teres*, Dr Kendr*, & now Dr Kierst*n.

Very sad indeed....

Her husband is my dermatologist. I pray he isn't involved. He's a really nice guy and a great doctor. My heart breaks for this family.
