For the past 36 hours, Harvey’s sister, Zina Crowder, has been behind the wheel of her car searching for her brother.

“I’ve been calling the hospitals to see if any John Does were listed,” she said.

In an act of desperation, Crowder decided to post Harvey’s picture to Facebook Thursday night to let her friends and family know he was missing.

Almost immediately, people began commenting on her post. Some said they had seen Harvey in several locations.

“The tip yesterday said he looked very disoriented,” Crowder said. “He was walking in a manner to where he wasn’t picking up his feet, you know, like he was exhausted.”

I wonder why they say he's in serious danger. Maybe because of the medication he left behind? Did the recent diagnosis devastate him?

What a mess. I appreciate what a tough (and often thankless) job police have, but I so wish in general that they had more training on how to approach a situation involving mental illness.

Man reported missing by family arrested for aggravated burglary
Zina Crowder, Harvey’s sister, drove the streets last Friday in search of her brother. She had no idea police had already come in contact with him the day before.
    (...)
While going door to door Friday night, Crowder inadvertently stumbled across a house where neighbors said there had been an incident Thursday afternoon. They said Harvey was questioned by officers about a burglary, but was later released.
“The people in that neighborhood knew that something was terribly wrong with him because when police came up to him, he was sitting in the middle of the street, peeling and eating an orange,” Crowder said.

Officers said they released Harvey after the homeowner said he wasn’t responsible. They did not know about the missing persons report.
Michael was arrested however, 2 days later and 5 miles away, after officers found him sitting on the couch in another house he'd broken into.
