" According to police, a 28-year-old woman exited a northbound TTC bus in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue at around 3 a.m. and was followed off the bus by the suspect.

Police say the suspect then approached the woman from behind and sexually assaulted her.

At that point, police allege the man physically attacked the woman, punching her repeatedly in the head.

Following a violent struggle, police say the man fled the scene".

Off a bus? I can imagine something like this happening in those walkway tunnels at Yonge and Eg, but not right on the street. How awful and scary. I hope she's okay. Well, as okay as she can be after something like this.

eta: Just remembered there's a police station one block west of the station!

Wasn't there another sexual assault on a young girl not too long ago in the same area?

I remember reading about one near Pottery Road? I wouldn't consider that close though. I could also be misremembering because I couldn't find a thread.

    There are also these:

Don't know what a ' haymaker ' is, but it probably really hurts. Poor woman.
This guy is dangerous, imo, wonder what is going on in suspect's household?
    imo.

“She told him to stop (the sexual assault) and then he commenced a violent and brutal attack,” Const. David Hopkinson said. “He was swinging haymakers ... and I believe she suffered a significant amount of bruising and a split lip.”

This hits close to home. My father lives within a few blocks of here. My sister lives within 8 blocks of here. If I am in T.O. I often take the subway to Yonge and Eglinton. I either walk to my Dad's or I catch a bus to my sister's.

    Good thing I'm "older"!

I remember heading back to my hotel downtown and I went underground. There wasn't a live person on duty so I had to scrounge for change. I could feel someone watching me so I pretended that I found the right change and confidently walked away. Now I make sure I have a token or have lots of change handy.

My thoughts are with the poor young woman who was attacked.

The Yonge and Eglinton (nicknamed "Yonge & Eligible") intersection is one of the most densely populated areas in Canada. Within 4 blocks any way there are probably 30,000 people.
    Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
    Therefore, send not to know, for whom the bell tolls;
    It tolls for thee.

It's a wild swing a boxer uses, kind of straight-armed and using all his bodyweight behind the punch. He doesn't look like a big guy, but if he'd hit her in the head with one she probably would have ended up unconscious.

    He sounds like a monster.
