To his friends, Michael Moore's life seemed enviable - so much so that they killed the 20-year-old Freeport man and took over his home and car, according to police.
Moore was 15 when his mother died, forcing him to live in foster care at a Bellmore youth center.

But at 18, he inherited his mom's ranch, returning to his childhood home where he lived on his own while attending community college and working at a Home Depot.

Last month, he suddenly disappeared, only to be found weeks later when a Bronx fisherman discovered a corpse wrapped in plastic along the East River in Hunts Point.

Days after his decomposed body washed ashore on Aug. 23, authorities identified it as Moore's and notified his neighbors on Randall Ave.

What sick people. Didn't he suffer enough having his mom die? Then to be killed like that.

:(

This is horrible. So many sick people in our world. :furious:

Why do people do such horrible things?

This is so sad.

A 21-year-old Hempstead man will serve 15 years in prison for his role in what prosecutors called "the ultimate identity theft" - killing a man and taking over his home.

Keith Martin didn't kill Michael Moore, 20, but he stood idly by while pal Antonio Pegues strangled Moore with a belt after Martin and Pegues attacked him in his Freeport home...

Pegues, who was convicted of murdering Moore, was sentenced last month to 55 years in prison. Martin... was convicted of first-degree manslaughter, burglary and tampering with evidence during a separate jury trial last month...
