Police are searching for a man involved with two attempts of abducting a 9-year-old boy on the same day near Thorncliffe Park Drive and Overlea Boulevard on Tuesday morning.

The boy was on his way to school between 8:35 a.m. and 8:55 a.m. when he was grabbed on the shoulder by the male suspect, but was able to break free and run to school, police say.

Investigators say that during lunch break, the boy saw the same man who attempted to approach him again, where he ran back to the school and informed a teacher."
 
"Authorities have described the suspect as a brown man in his 40s to early 50s. He stands six feet tall with short light brown hair, short, grey facial hair near his chin and a moustache, according to police.

Police say he was wearing a white shirt, dark zip-up jacket, black Adidas pants, Nike shoes with orange on them and a black hat with a circular, orange symbol.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact them at 416-808-5300, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477."

Scary!

I wish they'd say whether or not anyone else saw the man. If he was there before school and again at lunch he's probably been hanging around before.

Or he knew the kid and followed him.
 
I'm thinking the boy knew him. Or at least I hope so. Quite scary

Seems like the man knew the boy's routine, unless he was just watching for anyone he could grab, pretty focused to go after the same child twice!
If the boy knew him he could give a name, wondering if the perp. knows the child's name? imo.
 
Attempted child abduction in Thorncliffe Park possibly linked to sexual assault of girl, 8

Police are asking the public for assistance in locating a middle aged male suspect after a nine-year-old boy was repeatedly targeted in an attempted abduction in Toronto’s Thorncliffe neighbourhood.

Investigators have confirmed they are looking into whether the suspect is also wanted in connection with the sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl in the same area.

If it is the same guy, seems like he does not care if the child is male or female, as long as they are 8-9 years old, imo.

The person of interest has a distinct way of walking. If any one recognizes this person, please contact police."
 
Oh my goodness. This is so scary. I hope they catch the b@stard. I walk my kids 3 houses to the school bus and back. It's a scary world in Toronto.
 
Looks like he seems to be quite identifiable. Hope the pic gets more exposure so someone can see it and call it in. Surely he must 'know' the boy who he apparently tried to abduct TWICE on the same day? Bizarre.

Toronto Police had released a video of the man last week but on Monday, they said he was not the suspect they're looking for."

Unsure if this is the same man or not- what is with all the alleged assaults on 9 year old boys?!

Not sure, there have already been 2 alleged incidents involving a 9 year old boy and 1, possibly the same poi, involving an 8 year old girl, the suspect in those cases was described as a brown man in his 40-50's.
In the most recent case, allegedly involving an assault on 9 yr old boy at the library, the poi is described as a white man.
imo.

However, the man in the video posted by LE, turned out not to be the suspect.
Maybe description of poi at this time is flexible?
 
Ugh! I'm counting my blessings today. I was supposed to move to this area in September of this year. I have 2 boys currently. Happy that I decided to stay in York region.
Many times I go to the library and stay with the 4 year old while the 10 year old goes off and looks for books. I thought the library was a safer place. Always people around. It's sad that no where is safe anymore.
