THE heartbreaking trial of Becky Watts reached its eighth day this week.

The jury at Bristol Crown Court has heard details of how the 16-year-old's stepbrother Nathan Matthews and his girlfriend Shauna Hoare are alleged to have kidnapped and murdered the teenager. They both deny the charges.

Her body parts were found in a shed in Barton Court in March.

A transcript of Nathan Matthews interview with police as a witness, eight days after Becky disappeared, was read to the jury.

Matthews admitted teasing his stepsister at times. Asked how she would react, he said: “It depends what mood she was in. She might say something about my height or say: ‘Oh mum, Nathan’s being mean’.”

Matthews said he didn’t believe Becky suffered from anorexia. He told police: “She would have liked the fact she lost weight because she wanted to lose weight.” He said Becky received more attention when she had anorexia and felt special.

He was asked about his relationship with Becky. He told police: “I don’t particularly talk to her but I don’t particularly like her.”


Mr Grove said the messages he referred to are a “tiny fraction” of the communication between Hoare and Matthews.
The data runs “to thousands and thousands of pages”, he added.

I can't get over what NM and SH were saying about Becky in their police interviews, she was a missing teenager, time is of the essence, and they're just making up spiteful rubbish, couldn't even pretend to care. Unbelievable but on the other hand, gave the police so much to work with!

NM and SH have no heart, imo, they don't regret anything except getting caught!

Both of them are shockingly stupid IMO. They obviously don't understand eating disorders either.

Nathan gets annoyed at the way Becky talks to Anjie, Becky gets annoyed because she sees it that Nathan gets special treatment.

I can't see how she sees this because Becky gets treated amazingly - she has a ridiculous amount of clothes, she always looks really nice, has nice shoes and things.

DC Matthews interviewed Hoare outside her stepfather's house on 23 February.

The court heard that when she was asked about Becky, Hoare said that Becky was not shy, and would use her appearance to get what she wanted.

The jealousy here is palpable.

So she was her carer but she wasn't the one to take her to the hospital appointment that morning? I wonder how much truth there is in this claim.

Hoare told police she heard "stomp stomp stomp" down the stairs, before the door slammed, and presumed Becky had left "in a tantrum".

The following day, February 20, Matthews and Hoare, helped check the teen's room and reported her missing.

Just speculating but I'm wondering whether NM and SH could have removed more items from Becky's room the next day when they realised it didn't look as if she had 'run away'. It could explain the discrepancy between what was present in her room initially (and the reports that she hadn't taken any clothing or makeup) and what was found in the bags in the shed. Could also explain how they managed to move so much of her stuff?

I don't particularly talk to her because, obviously, I don't particularly like her.... What annoys me is that way she speaks to my mum, sometimes she will be kind of like rude or something, or kind of demanding.

Again, these quotes are so vague, - 'sometimes she will be kind of like rude or something' - are you sure about that Nathan? Because I bet you wouldn't be able to give any specific examples. Part of me wonders if he mainly was sexually attracted to Becky but the disdain towards her was entirely SH's influence on him, b i t ching about Becky and whatnot. She seems to have much more well-formed opinions about Becky's personality than NM does.

I can't believe they were saying this when she was supposedly missing and they were aiding the investigation. I mean, WHAT? Way to implicate yourself.

The jury heard the teen sent her last text message at 11.03, and it is thought she was killed sometime between then, and 12.45 when Anjie returned home.

But Matthews and Hoare did not leave the family home until around 6pm, arriving at their home on Cotton Mill Lane at 6.40pm.

The pair then ordered a takeaway and browsed the internet for television programme listings.

How were they able to watch TV knowing they had a body on their hands?! Unless they are both complete psychopaths this is the only thing I have heard so far that suggests to me that SH might not have actually known at this point. Surely otherwise they would've been discussing what to do, not chilling out with Netflix?!

23-year-old Jaydene Parsons, and boyfriend 29-year-old Karl Demetrius - who is also the brother of defendant Donovan - admitted the charge at an earlier court hearing.

The couple helped transport boxes and bags in a white van borrowed from Demetrius's work, which are alleged to have contained Becky's severed body parts.

They claim they did not know what was in the boxes - believing they were criminal, but only things like "clothes and electrical equipment"

This is the first time I've seen this! So they thought they were hiding clothing and electrical equipment, not drugs?

There was a post at the end of the last thread (don't know how to bring it over) that mentioned NM had handcuffs and stun gun(s) and didn't use them.

Do we know for certain he didn't use these?

I don't think we know that all the things found with Becky's body belonged to Becky do we? Some yes, but not all.

I think the other items are things that were laying around in NM & SH's bathroom that probably had 'matter' on them.

You're probably right, but I'm thinking of the items on the hangers. It seems strange that there would be so much clothing in the bathroom (shoes etc), and the sizing seems to match up with Becky more than it does Shauna (size 8, age 13 shorts etc) ... but nothing would surprise me considering the state of their house.

The court is packed with the family of #beckywatts again as week three of evidence begins. They've been wearing baby blue-coloured ribbons.

You know when the jury has to give verdicts on each of the charges, do they have to justify to anyone how they've come to the conclusion? For example if a jury reached a majority verdict that SH was guilty of murder, would they have to show how this was proved beyond reasonable doubt to the Judge?
