Bubonic Plague can be cured with antibiotics according to some books I have read. In the olden times they didn't have antibiotics and no sewage systems etc.that is why it was so severe. But we still don't need any other problems.

I want to know why it took so long for the information to come out?

If I were to see a cute little white mouse outside of my house, I would have to pick him up and bring him inside thinking the poor thing was some child's lost pet!

Correct. Plague is spread by fleas, and scattered cases in humans still occur within the US. From the CDC website:In North America, plague is found in certain animals and their fleas from the Pacific Coast to the Great Plains, and from southwestern Canada to Mexico. Most human cases in the United States occur in two regions: 1) northern New Mexico, northern Arizona, and southern Colorado; and 2) California, southern Oregon, and far western Nevada. Plague also exists in Africa, Asia, and South America (see map).
I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for pretending to be someone I'm not.

This could be the tip of the iceberg, I would like to know HOW these mice got out and what other things have not hit the press that could have escaped from this lab......

This story does not inspire my confidence in containing "labs" that test for these diseases.

Ever read " The Stand" by Stephen King , it all started at a lab, one person escaped who was contaminated and then the disease spread from there..........

All it takes is one mistake..........it is bad enough to worry about natural pandemics, let alone "mistakes" made............
