I'm confident the pup will protect his little human and alert someone to their whereabouts.

Hope they find this little guy soon. I hope his dog is still with him so he's not as afraid. I wonder how warm it is there this time of year.

This. There have been plenty of incidences of children getting lost with dogs and their dogs keeping their charge safe till found.

Did this family let the 5 yr old out in the neighborhood with the dog?
What bothers me is the dog has not been found,
IMO someone took them and its probably someone right there in the neighborhood.

He's cute as a button. Looks a little mischievous, too, like a little boy who might set off on an adventure with his dog.

    Come home, Bret and Hank!

Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but would a five year old boy be in any way strong enough to control a dog on a walk, much less by himself?! I have a child a similar age and have had a dog similar to a lab, and the resounding answer would be NO. not at all. not close. Unless this were a SUPER obedient dog who was unflappable in following commands.

plus... a 5 year old by themselves in general? hinky or poor judgement...

Very much hoping they went on a small adventure and are on their way back now.

Goodness, I don't want to criticize but I have a 4 1/2 year old granddaughter and she would never be allowed to go out on her own, even with the family dog which is a service dog for her brother who has Sensory Processing Disorder. Even with a trained animal, it seems very unsafe to let a small child go through the neighborhood alone. But as I said, I don't know the whole story but it just scares me so much.
    Praying for Bret and Hank.....

Just pulled up Fox Rd. on google and it's a very heavily wooded area with Dutch Henry Creek just at the end of it where it meets Coyote Rd. This boy could be *anywhere* in those woods

I seriously question the wisdom of allowing a 5 yr old child to walk the family dog. Maybe the parents *didn't* allow it and he just took off with the dog on his own? Sure hope they find him okay.
