WI - Bruce Windorski, 40, Stevens Point, 18 October 2015

    Bruce Windorski

Wisconsin man who battled Islamic State in Syria goes missing
"A former Army Ranger and police officer from Wisconsin who joined the war against Islamic State in Syria for several months earlier this year has been missing for the past week, according to his wife.

"He never talked about going back overseas, but he probably wouldn't have talked to me about it because he wanted to protect me," said Courtney Windorski of Gillett, who reported her husband, Bruce, missing last Sunday when he failed to return from what he told her would be an overnight with other veterans who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Bruce Windorski, 40, was featured in a Sept. 5 Wall Street Journal article about American veterans who have voluntarily gone on their own to fight Islamic State, also known as ISIS."

    Hope he's found soon...
I wonder if he's suffering post traumatic stress disorder since returning home. Hope he just needs time to clear his head.

An overnight trip like that can be an extended support group meeting filled with good stuuf, but I'm worried it might have been triggering.

I hope he comes home soon.

His wife, Courtney, says she thought he was going to a meeting with friends, but that meeting was never scheduled. She says he sometimes leaves abruptly, but always let’s her know where he is, even when he traveled to Iraq and Syria last January.

Windowski is 40 years old, 5’11” and around 230 pounds. He drives a grey 2003 Dodge Durango with a tribal plate reading A9658.

Law enforcement traced Bruce’s cell phone, and the last time it connected to a tower, was in Missouri on Monday.

Disappeared -Bruce Windorski, 5'11, 230 lbs - Gillet

He suffers from PTSD and has disappeared.

"Windorski left his family's northern Wisconsin home in Gillett on Saturday, October 17th, headed to what he said was a veterans' retreat. Nothing seemed amiss, Courtney says, but when her husband didn't return Sunday as planned, she reported him missing.

Turns out, there was no veterans' retreat planned that weekend, which has led to increased worry as to Bruce's whereabouts. The former Army Ranger-turned- police-officer, and now self-employed graphic designer, has suffered from PTSD for a number of years."

Oh no. That doesn't sound good at all. I hope he's just taking some time to himself and he's found soon.

Since he is an enthusiastic outdoor person maybe he has some favourite spots in the woods where he used to camp or something? I hope they're checking all his known spots. Hope he just needed some alone time and is somehow afraid to come back home.

    Article from 5 days ago:

Missing Wisconsin army vet’s phone traced to Ozark County

Bruce Windorski, 40, went missing from his Wisconsin home Oct. 17, and family members have turned an eye to Ozark County after his most recent cell phone activity was traced to Wasola.

    ...

No credit card activity has been detected since Oct. 18.

So his phone is on and traveled but he has not used any cards.

And this is from Oct 25 but was not mentioned here yet I think:

The family of an Army veteran who battled Islamic State in Syria pleaded for his safe return today after he went missing with six rifles following his arrival back in the US.

He took six hunting rifles with him. Article says the family loves going on hunting and fishing trips together. I hope they have searched all those spots.

Would anyone really take that many with if they only needed one?

Hopefully they checked ALL flights out of the country thoroughly. I think he may have gone on another unannounced trip.

The way the article is worded, it kind of sounds like the hunting rifles along with fishing equipment were simply in the truck, like it was normal for them to be in the truck. "Mrs Windorski said he had been driving a 2003 grey Dodge Durango with a Menominee Nation number-plate of A9658, containing fishing tackle and about six hunting rifles."
