Bank robber just out of prison killed Wake Forest wife, police say

here is a nationwide alert out for a Wake Forest convicted bank robber after his wife was found dead in their home, police say.

Police were asked to perform a welfare check on a resident of the 4400 block of Iyar Way and ruled the incident a “suspicious death” after a body was discovered late Tuesday.

A woman was found deceased by responding officers.

A convicted bank robber — who was just released from prison on Oct 15 for the robbery of a PNC bank on Rodgers Ave. in Dec 2013 — is suspected in the killing of his wife at the home.

“I would consider him dangerous. Armed, we can’t confirm right now. But definitely dangerous,” said Wake Forest Police Capt. Darren Abbacci.

The 34-year-old's husband, 39-year-old Lanson Stalf, has been charged with murder. Police say he should be considered dangerous.

Autry leaves behind a 3-year-old son who is now being cared for by family members. The boy was with his nanny when authorities found Autry.

Engelbrecht said about a week and a half ago, they started seeing Stalf around.

He had just been released from prison Oct. 15 for robbing the PNC bank in Wake Forest in 2013. Stalf was later arrested in New Orleans.

How heartbreaking. Why was this guy out in two years after robbing a bank?

Police said the couple’s nanny called them Tuesday and asked them to check on Autry. When officer arrived, they discovered her body. A neighbor told WNCN Thursday that her son heard shots fired at the house around 8 p.m.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Stephanie Autry, for her family, it’s a heartbreaking situation and so our hope is Lanson will be captured as soon as possible,” Crabtree said.

Police said the couple’s 3-year-old son was not home at the time of the murder.

Authorities do not know where Stalf is headed. They are asking anyone with information about Stalf’s whereabouts is asked to call police.

Brief Google search of Stalf shows that he used to play poker quite a bit on the circuits, which is probably why he robbed the bank, I guess.

This is a great question. What in the heck is he doing out of prison already?

Robbing a bank. My goodness. Crime should not pay and I just saw another case the other day of a white collar worker who was released after embezzling thousands of dollars and he was out in about 2 years too.

If sentences are not going to be stiff enough then crime could actually pay for some of these fools.

I don't have a link handy for the white collar dude but he made a ton of money and only had to do a couple years. He could have a swiss bank account and be set for life now. All with living for 2 years in prison. Its almost worth it instead of working 40 years and still being in debt.

These parole boards have some serious explaining to do. The family of her will no doubt file a lawsuit and now the taxpayers may have to pay tons of money most likely in a lawsuit for wrongful death since they let this guy out.

Taxpayer money that could have been used to help the city out instead.

This is very upsetting and I am sure her family is also upset. WTH is going on with people like him being let out.

This is a quote from the neighbor talking to his children:

"“You try and explain it in a way that doesn’t drive fear into them, but then it’s trying to make them understand there’s some very bad people out there,”

Yeah, why was he OUT THERE? He should have been in prison for the bank robbery.

I don't have the link handy, but Stalf was charged with larceny. A cursory Google search shows it can be a pretty light sentence depending on the amount of goods/money and criminal record.

SA's facebook said she worked as a traveling nurse. From what I understand, that's a pretty good income. I'm sure Stephanie "saw the light" after he was incarcerated and no longer went for his money grubbing schemes, especially from her. In fact, I would bet that he probably stole one of her credit cards the minute he got out so he could gamble.

From an older article he has shown violence before.

"Public records for Lanson Paul Stalf indicate he has not been a stranger to trouble with a number of DUIs, charges for obstructing justice, and aggravated battery in Illinois and a warrant in California. - See more at: http://wfncnews.com/2063/dumb-*advertiser censored*-bank-robber-caught-big-easy#sthash.S36QTQy7.dpuf"

I can see now why they say they have no idea where he could be going..Cali?, Louisiana?, Illinois? That's huge ground to cover. He couldn't have much money, I am assuming. Unless he robbed another bank somewhere?

Agree. This guy will be on a crime spree and will be dangerous.

I just looked to see if this murder was already on WS and sure enough it is.

Another (alleged) spousal murder. They seem to be ever so common nowadays. There's barely a year where there isn't at least one here in the NC and greater Raleigh area.

Wake Forest is located north of Raleigh, it is a border town to Raleigh.

Uh man. If she was the one that turned him in, not sure why she continued the relationship after that. I do hope they find him.

Good gravy....

HERNANDO, Miss. — The nationwide manhunt for a killer has focused its efforts on the Mid-South.

Early Friday morning, the Community Bank located at 475 Commerce Street was robbed, causing several schools in the area to go on precautionary lockdown.

WREG has since confirmed the man wanted in that robbery is Lanson Paul Stalf.
