The family of a 15-year-old reported missing in Rockford has positively identified a partially burned body found outside a vacant mobile home near Pecatonica.

some background info I found:

McBain, who responds to Drea, was last seen in the 1600 block of Rebecca Drive Oct. 19. Melody Gillespie, McBain's mother, reported her missing on Oct. 26. Gillespie described her daughter to be a habitual runaway who always returned after a few days, and generally would stay in contact with family during disappearances.

Police say McBain's last Facebook post was attributed to her profile on Oct. 23.

Police have suspects. Rockford ADC was about to meet with a team of Rockford officers as well as Stephenson County Sheriff's Police to "formulate a plan and when we will make the public statement."

Hoey said police are "aware of all the comments in reference to Snapchat," and officials are in the process of issuing notices to such social media outlets to preserve information. Social media posts claim that a Snapchat image shows Drea before she was killed and a person involved with creating the image talking about it being "hot in here."

This.^^ Horrible enough what was done to this girl, but how IDIOTIC does one have to be to SnapChat it!?? Where does this mentality come from?!

Notice how the statements directly contradict each other. Of course I know, the sheriff was just speculating...but still.
 
Her mother said that the night she last saw her daughter she had asked her not to leave the house because she didn't like who she was hanging out with, but when her mother awoke about 3 a.m., Drea was gone. She'd left without telling where she was going on other occasions. But in the past four months or so, Drea had become especially uncommunicative, her mother said.

"She's been hanging out with the wrong crowd, older people, 25- to 30-year-olds," said Drea's brother. "She had one friend lead her down the wrong path, and it was shady all of a sudden."

Drea had been having trouble staying in school. She wasn't able to stay focused enough to complete homeschooling online, her mother said, who moved her family from Loves Park to Rockford with the hope that a new neighborhood would help give Drea a new outlook. Drea also attended a counseling session arranged by her mother.

Authorities have arrested a juvenile female identified as the victim’s friend. Several charges, including first-degree murder, are pending.

Videos of the victim being assaulted and burned were also shared on SnapChat. It is believed the suspect was behind the posts.

The coroner says they can't say how Andreayah McBain died. But there is no trauma to her body. They say she was burned after she died. Now they are awaitng toxicology results.
