TX - Family Attacked; Pregnant Teen and 1 yo beaten, San Antonio, 2005
A man was arrested Saturday morning accused of beating up an entire family, including a pregnant teenager and a one-year-old, San Antonio Police said.
That suspect could face life in prison, officials said.
The attack happened at a house in the 5100 block of Big Fawn on the southwest side, and five people were beaten, police said. Neighbors in the area said the suspect did it all for ten dollars.
The man then grabbed the 16-year-old girl, threw her in the family's van, and took off down the street, officers said. He drove the van through a ditch and crashed in the brush. The girl ran home, officials said.
Police said the suspect then kicked in the door of another house and ransacked the place. He then took the time to shave his head. Police arrested him at the second house.
Neighbors say the man only knows the family from living on their block for the last month. They told News 4 WOAI the man attacked them because the pregnant teen's boyfriend owed him $10.
The family was feeling better Saturday night, neighbors said, but the pregnant teen could lose her baby. If that happens, the suspect, whose identity has not been released, could be charged with capital murder.
The man is charged with nine felonies in connection with the attack, officers said.

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?
