Jennifer Marie McKaveney, 20, had been walking her dog with her mother, Kimberly Sue McKaveney, Friday in Beechwood Park less than two hours before two youths found the younger woman's body along a trail in a wooded ravine, police said yesterday.

"They parted ways about 5:15 (p.m.) and she was found at 7," said county police Assistant Superintendent James Morton. "We're looking at a specific time here that someone might have seen her and her mother walking."

"It's a busy park and there were a lot of people around," added Monroeville police Assistant Chief Doug Cole.

McKaveney and her mother drove to the park with her pet dachshund about 5 p.m. Friday and walked for 15 minutes before the mother drove home with the dog, Morton said. When asked if the mother and daughter had argued, Morton repeated, "they parted ways."

The mother told police that her daughter said she would walk back home, about a mile away.

Two unidentified youths were riding their bikes over the hill from nearby Ramsey Elementary School when they came upon McKaveney's body on the trail. They alerted a man in the park who called police at 7:07 p.m.

County Coroner Cyril H. Wecht's office said McKaveney died from knife wounds to her neck and chest. Police said she was killed where she was found, and that her killer made no attempt to hide the body. Police had not recovered a murder weapon last night.

Police arrested this beautiful young woman's MOTHER yesterday, and charged her with the homicide.

OMG ShowerSinger, that's just awful. Did you learn this from a link?

I wonder what would make the police realize the girl probably knew her attacker?

Thanks Showersinger, I found it.

Jennifer McKaveney, who lived with her parents and two sisters on St. Vincent Drive, had driven to the park with her mother in the family's blue Chevrolet Impala to walk their dog around 5:15 p.m. that day, police said.

Kimberly McKaveney told police that she left her daughter at the park after they had an argument and went home around 6 p.m., and that her daughter said she would walk home. Her daughter's body was found two hours later. There was no sign of robbery.

According to an affidavit supporting Kimberly McKaveney's arrest, the same boys who discovered the body saw a woman matching Kimberly McKaveney's description leaving the area. Also, a couple who were walking their dogs in the park said they saw the same woman wearing a blood-stained, ripped T-shirt, her arm covered with a black trash bag, carrying a box and walking a dog. The couple asked the woman if someone had been hurt, and the woman responded "I don't know!" in an "agitated" and "rude" tone, the affidavit states. It was just after 7 p.m.

A police video also indicated that the blue Impala was parked in the school lot after 7 p.m., more than an hour later than the time Kimberly McKaveney had told police she had driven home. The video was taken from a police car that had responded to the crime scene.

Police have not disclosed a motive in the case.

It seems to me that the last one to see a person, and if they had an argument,
well- it has to be the red flag in most cases.
I can't imagine being that mad at any of my children- ( at least once they left home and were not living with me!!!
