Search underway for missing Dade County teenager
"Searchers in Dade County are trying to find a missing teenager.

Authorities say the 16-year-old boy apparently wrecked his vehicle early morning on his way to his high school for basketball practice. His car was heavily damaged and he hasn't been located."

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

This is very sad, I hope he is found. Sounds like a rural area.

That's all the info they're going to release? No name or description?

    (Thanks for posting, btw)

This is so scary! I wonder how damaged the vehicle was? Could he have been thrown from the vehicle?

It is not uncommon from reading on WS for years to find that crash victims often leave the vehicle. At first I was confused by this but now it is becoming more normal (sigh).
From the linked article there is a body of water right there where they are searching. I hope that he did not fall in somehow.
Praying for the parents and family that their child is safe somewhere.

If info in the comments is correct, they are draining the lagoon to look for him. Also, you can find the boy's first name in the comments.

Some more info and video here: http://www.ky3.com/news/local/search...48998_36279458

They think he was ejected from the vehicle and went into the water. So sad.

His name is starting to appear in social media posts. My heart is breaking for the family, friends and community. He looks just like my son.
Please be aware that what I type is my opinion.

Does anyone have any idea of how long it takes to drain a lagoon?

They may have found that the young man's seatbelt was not in use at the time of the accident. This is pretty much the only way he would have been ejected from the car.

This is what I feared. We actually had something similar happen in my hometown when I was in high school.

My heart is broken for this boy's family. I cannot change the outcome of his wreck, however I can advocate for the use of seat belts to future drivers. Please visit the link below and think about each and every upcoming driver you know.

Alexa’s Hugs ™ of Northern Colorado

Our mission is to provide positive encouragement for seat belt and vehicle safety:

If you peer into the depths – even to the farthest recesses of our souls – you still could not find this nightmare. Even the unconscious parts of us could not bear to form the picture. And yet it came.

It was so early in the morning that it still felt like night. The dog barked, then the doorbell rang. Light from a flashlight was coming through the windows at the front door. When we opened the door we saw the badge and the hat. Much of what happened in the moments and days afterward is still a fog.

Alexa had been driving down the interstate. She was doing what Alexa often did – going to help a friend. She somehow lost control of her truck. She was not wearing her seat belt, and was ejected as the truck rolled several times. She was killed instantly. Alexa was just nineteen years old.
