    ND - Travis Vorachek, 45, Whitman, 7 November 2015

    http://www.inforum.com/news/3878494-...-resume-monday

Vorachek was supposed to meet his father Saturday morning for deer hunting but failed to show, prompting a search that brought out about 125 people the first day and nearly 400 the second.
His pickup, ATV, and cap have been found; the ATV had flipped over. This is in an extremely remote area northwest of Whitman, and east of Brocket and Lawton.

Oh bless his heart....a flipped 4 wheeler doesn't sound good at all, especially in such remote terrain. But he hasn't been seen so perhaps he survived that accident...and wandered off?

The story from the beginning was a little..................ODD. The press release when he first went missing stated a 45 yr old male hunter, wearing dark clothing and camo was missing from the area and asked for the public's help in finding him. They didn't give a description of him nor did they release his name. A day later that information was released. What were they waiting for?

I don't know...maybe they had found the 4-wheeler and thought they might locate him nearby?
    Very strange.

The 'they' would be the searchers looking for him as a search party was formed on Saturday (and again today). Wouldn't you think they would have been given the man's description? And as far as releasing his name, I would think they would have released that immediately in case someone had seen him. I don't recall ever reading about a missing person whose description and name aren't released as soon as they're reported missing by the media.

    I agree with you---very strange.

Grand Forks hunter still missing on second day of searching “A lot of hard work went into the search today, but we had negative results for today,” Walsh County Sheriff Ron Jurgens said Sunday evening.

Vorachek was supposed to meet his father Saturday morning for deer hunting but failed to show, prompting a search that brought out about 125 people the first day and nearly 400 the second.

Did we ever get the specifics about where Travis was supposed to meet his dad? Was he meeting him in the woods...or in a parking lot somewhere?

There's not much of either out there. It's a lot of fields, with a ton of water.

Hope he is found. We hunt and I have rolled some atv's and normally you are not going fast when out hunting so rollovers normally aren't to bad. Hope he is found and just went the wrong direction. I hope anyway.
    Don't mind the misspellings.

The only reason I can think of for withholding such ID would be that the authorities wouldn't necessarily be certain that the vehicle owner was the driver at the time of the accident. That verification takes some time and the last thing they'd want to do is cause unnecessary grief to the family of someone who had loaned their car to a friend (or had it stolen).

Facebook page Search for SuperTrav (Travis Vorachek) https://www.facebook.com/groups/708347779265116/

ETA: from the instructions on the FB page the search area is around here https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/...a99f9d5698e49b

I don't get a good feeling from this story so far http://www.thedickinsonpress.com/new...g-walsh-county
"Search crews were concentrating on an area where he overturned the four-wheeler. Jurgens said they have expanded out about 5 miles from that location.

The area being searched is thick with cattails and has numerous bodies of water, slowing progress.

"There are a lot of areas to be searched and a lot of swampy areas so it's taken a lot of time to get through these areas," Jurgens said. "It's very tough walking. The searchers are getting through as much as they can.""

Good to hear they're using volunteer searchers and a helicopter - fingers crossed!

    You lost me.

His wife reported him missing and a search found his pick up and ATV. That was followed by a press release saying a man was missing but no name or description was given. Whether or not he was driving the vehicle, he was still missing.
