Austin Taylor, GS Student, Reported Missing
"Yesterday evening, a post went up in the ‘GS Students’ Facebook group requesting people to “please help out if [they] know something” regarding the disappearance of General Studies student Austin Taylor. We received a tip earlier today linking us to a missing persons page for him. The post states that Taylor has been missing since November 2nd, and was last seen in the East Village."

Search for missing former GS student Austin Taylor called off. “While we have not heard from Austin Taylor, the detective on his case has informed us that his passport was scanned in Paris. Therefore, we are officially calling off the search,” Lee Anne Barnes, Taylor’s mother, said in a statement.

a message from Taylor’s mother was posted in the GS Facebook group indicating that Taylor’s passport was scanned in Paris and the family was “calling off the search.” We have no further confirmation that the search has officially been cancelled.

He couldn't have picked a worse time for Paris, could he. I hope he's alright.
 
The family of a 26-year-old Columbia graduate who went missing are holding out hope that they’ll hear from their son after the NYPD tracked his passport to Paris.

Austin Taylor resigned from his new job at a virtual reality company, left his apartment without saying a word and arrived in Paris around Nov. 4, almost two weeks before bomb-strapped terrorists attacked the city.

We’re just trying to find out where he’s at,” Billy Taylor said. “I just want to hear that he’s ok.”

Taylor’s family reached out to the U.S. Consulate in Paris, but about a dozen people killed in the attacks have yet to be identified.

Given Austin's interest and lifestyle, close friend Kristin Wenz believes Austin is most likely not even in Paris. Austin was also reportedly on Whatsapp, an Internet instant messaging phone application, on Nov. 5, eight days before the attacks. He had also recently been talking about meditation retreats with another friend, so she has a hunch perhaps he's spending some time disconnecting.

"Knowing him, he's gone on trips before and, yes, he didn't tell anyone this time, but he's an adult," Wenz told Dateline. "He probably has no idea that people are looking for him, or even of what happened in Paris. If he did, I know he'd call his family."

The friend states she feels he is not in Paris however his passport was scanned in Paris ??

I thought that odd too. Maybe he always enters Europe through Paris and then heads to real destination?

Can't they check the cameras at the airport and verify it was in fact him that used his passport ?
 
this is starting to turn hinky to me. at first I thought well hes private and doesn't always "check in" but there was a terrorist attack in paris and he is unaccounted for. could he have been a victim? could someone have stolen his identity in NYC and used it to participate in the attack? even if he was at a retreat or something, im sure this news would have reached him and he would have let his family know he was ok.

so odd.
 
So the last person to see said they would talk to him later and he said nothing about leaving then the next contact comes in the form of emails and his phone is off. I hate to think the worst but I am worried about this young man. Neither of his parents feel he is on a retreat. I would love to know if his bank account has been used.
