Despite the difference in eye color, i think this is a match.

Wow Carl, I think you've done it again. He looks just like the PM.

Looks like NamUs created a casefile for Gordon Mason. So obviously, they are working on this possible match.

Two persons of interest named in 1981 Fremont County murder

    http://www.koaa.com/story/30980544/t...-county-murder

Since our last report new leads have surfaced. Detective King says they believe he was killed in the Pueblo area before his body was dumped almost an hour away.

And they now have two persons of interest in the case. It's the closest they've been to solving the murder in three decades.

"There was a calotype in the file from the 1980's from another agency that led me to these individuals," he said. "They are from out of state and they are still out of state. We have spoken to them, they have been cooperative to an extent."

I left a message with the detective on this case to make sure he got my submission. He said he had not heard about it because the coroner's office handles all the tips regarding possible matches. But he checked with them and they say that the dental comparison on Gordon Mason came up negative.

Nevertheless, he says that he is going to also request a fingerprint and DNA comparison to make sure that the dental rule-out was not in error.

He was very happy to see that this case is getting attention, and thanked me for my interest.

A calotype is made using an old-style photography process. Seems like an odd thing to find in a criminal investigation file.
Opinions expressed are strictly my own (who else would they belong to???)

Colorado Cold Cases: Female duo lured man to stabbing death in Canon City

King recently flew to Texas to interview a person of interest in the case, Rosalinda Crispin, who is serving a 65-year-old prison term after being convicted of murdering Maximo Linares Limon in 1985.

Crispin was 26 at the time of John Doe’s murder.

Crispin and another person-of-interest, Rita Valadez, are believed to be the last persons to see the man at a popular nightclub South of Santa Fe Street in Pueblo. Valadez died in 2003.
One version of what happened is that Valadez and Crispin acknowledged being inside the Caprice, even driving it at one point. That is, after John Doe took off running.

But Crispin said she has no idea what happened to John Doe. The last time she saw him, he was running through a field.

King said it is possible that someone discovered the body near the Bengay bar and took it to Fremont County to avoid bad publicity.

King said he has reason to believe that the murder victim was from the Denver area and is hoping that publicizing the drawing of the man could generate tips about his identity.

Very surprised to see Gordon Mason ruled out. Thought he was pretty much spot on.
