Crews dig at Surry County farm in missing person's case

Law enforcement officials are digging at a Surry County farm in connection with the case of a man who was last seen eight years ago.

Search for missing man expands again into Virginia, more than eight years after disappearance

It's been eight and a half years since anyone has reported seeing Jimmy Huff. He is from Carroll County but went missing just across the state line in Surry County, North Carolina.

Now a new tie to Virginia has investigators asking for your help. His daughter, Telissa Huff remembers the last words she heard from her dad in April 2007.

The investigation is now spreading to Virginia. An anonymous writer sent two letters with a Galax postmark and a vague tip reporting knowledge of possible new information.

"There is somebody somewhere that knows what happened to Jimmy Huff. If they know he's been murdered we want to know that, if he's alive we want to know that," Sheriff Gardner said.

10 years later, Carroll County woman ramps up efforts to find her father

Law enforcement still consider Jimmy Huff a missing person. After 10 years, his daughter is certain he's no longer alive.

"When my daddy didn't pick the phone up and hadn't called me within three days after he went missing, I knew better," said Talissa Huff, Jimmy's daughter, remembering the moment she realized he was missing.

The last decade has been a nightmare for Talissa Huff. To help her cope, she's teamed with the Aware Foundation to help keep her father's face and memory in the public eye. A new poster is the newest plea for people to call with information.

She says another search in Carroll County ponds is being planned now.

"We're going back, we're not done. We did go here in Carroll County and look and like I say, we're not finished," Huff said.

Sheriff gives update on searches | Mt. Airy News

“DOBSON — The disappearance of multiple people from this area sparked a sit-in at the headquarters for the Surry County Sheriff’s Office Monday.

A group called the Aware Foundation, based in Roanoke, Virginia, posted on Facebook Sunday that it was holding a gathering at Starbucks on Rockford Street that afternoon to discuss missing persons.

Those who attended the gathering spoke to a Piedmont TV station and mentioned four names of people either still missing or being investigated after going missing: Michael Martin, Sarah Hill, Jessica Stanley and James Huff.“

I wonder if there are any updates on this case? Anyone know exactly where is truck was found when he went missing? I have read conflicting info on different websites. Someone knows something about this man! People just don't disappear off the face of the earth!
