Two of the three found - one dead, one arrested, female still missing.

A homicide investigation is underway after police say the body of a man was found in the Mississippi River on Tuesday.

The man's body was found near the Dorena-Hickman Ferry.

Miner Police Chief Chris Griggs says a woman is still missing and a suspect is in custody.

Started when a family member in STL couldn't reach them and called LE to check on them. (Guessing it must be murder-suicide?)

Still not releasing identities, major case squad activated.

Law enforcement had the 200 Harrison Street in Miner blocked off. Police tape can be seen around a home.

Maybe, except one person was arrested. I don't think they will find the woman alive, and one person killed two people.

Body of man found in Mississippi River near Dorena, MO.
The man did have an iPhone. Authorities are trying to use it to identify him by putting the SIM card in another phone.
Man this is terrible.

Sorry, yeah, I didn't phrase that well - if that was the plan and the suicide didn't happen b/c LE got on it before they could carry that part out?

I agree - no way is she alive based on what people have said about the scene :(

If the crime scene is in Miner the killer had enough time to take one of the bodies 20 miles and drop it off in the river by Dorena. I wouldn't say it sounded like whom ever did it was pressed for time.

I'm more curious as to where the person who was arrested in Van Buren was heading because from Dorena-Hickman Ferry to Van Buren is approx 3 hours.

For reference Harrison St, Miner to Dorena-Hickman Ferry 37.9 mi (46 min)

I agree the person covered a large amount of land to dispose of body and in this area there are plenty of windy country roads to pull off on. Hopefully the person arrested starts talking before LE has to try any foot or aerial searches.

A white male with an age estimated by Mississippi County Coroner Terry Parker as being 40 to 60 years old was recovered after being reported floating at the Dorena-Hickman Ferry's Mississippi River landing in Mississippi County.

Miner Police Chief Chris Griggs said Tuesday evening he is working on a statement to release Wednesday morning but confirmed the man as one of the missing persons his department and other law enforcement agencies were working to find earlier that day.

He also confirmed there is in custody a local young adult male as a "person of interest" in the investigation and that a woman is still missing.

MINER, MO (KFVS) -
The son of a man and woman who were found dead in the Mississippi River has been charged with their murders.

Thomas Wayne McRoy, 37, is charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.

The body of Larry McRoy, Thomas Wayne McRoy's father, was found in the Mississippi River near Dorena, Mo. on Tuesday. The body of Roxann McRoy, Thomas Wayne's mother, was found Wednesday near the Dorena-Hickman Ferry around 9 a.m.

The family lived in Miner, Mo.

Miner Police Chief Chris Griggs says a family member who lives in St. Louis had been calling the family and no one was answering. He said the family member thought this was unusual and called police to check on them.

Law enforcement had the 200 Harrison Street in Miner blocked off on Wednesday. Police tape can be seen around a home.

There was an active search on Tuesday for McRoy and his parents. The bodies of his parents were later found in the Mississippi River.

Tuesday evening, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper recognized the suspect's vehicle in Carter County, pulled it over and took the suspect into custody on Tuesday.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter says the Major Case Squad has been activated.

McRoy was being held at the Scott County Jail. His bond is set at $200,000 cash only.

According to the probable cause statement, police went to the home and spoke with Thomas McRoy on Tuesday, who said his parents had left with friends and that he didn't know who they were.

Officers noticed a black Jeep that was backed up to the home.

Upon returning to the scene later, police found that Jeep was gone.

Police found blood on the door and in the bed of a white pickup truck that was there, which belonged to Larry McRoy.

Also in the back of the truck was a loaded 12 gauge shotgun.

There was an active search on Tuesday for McRoy and his parents. The bodies of his parents were later found in the Mississippi River.

McRoy allegedly admitted during the traffic stop that he had shot both of his parents with a .22 rifle in the living room.

A search of the home revealed a large amount of blood, a bone fragment, and a bullet fragment.
